50 Dead Men Walking
True story about an IRA informant in the 1980's.
Truly brilliant film - slow burner to start but once the film gets hold of you, you cant take your eyes off it. Brutal, honest and a bit of an eye opener.
Well worth watching - even more so as it portrays real events with real people.
9/10

Prince Caspian 8/10 Very nicely and accurate adaptation of the C.S.Lewis classic from 'The Chronicles Of Narnia'. Great to watch for adults and children (having read the books aged seven they have always been dear to me). Aslan looks a bit fake (the CGI for him could have been better) but all the children perform their roles well with Georgie Henley as Lucy Pevensey stealing the show. Peter Dinklage likewise excels in the role of Trumpkin and Reepicheep will have the little ones enchanted. Next on the adaptation list is 'The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader'. Planet Narnia is a recommended read for any who wish to unravel the books real meaning and construction using medieval cosmology and Biblical rhetoric . I enjoyed watching it, although there was something about Reepicheep that left me disappointed....he seemed to be lacking in the warrior role and used more as a bit of comedy entertainment. I much preferred his portrayal in the BBC adaptation. I've not read Planet Narnia, but then again, I've not read The Horse And His Boy, The Silver Chair or The Last Battle yet and have only listened to a tape of The Magician's Nephew. However, I finally watched The Narnia Code (an excellent documentary of the life of CS Lewis, leading to his creation of Narnia) yesterday and was fascinated by the linking of the books to medieval cosmology, having already been aware of the biblical link (only had my attention drawn to that reading an article about the film, having not read the book in years, so was unaware of it when reading at a young age, but it jumped off the page when I read about it!). Lolly may laugh if she reads this, but I found the theatre version performed at the Birmingham Rep (also performed at the West Yorkshire Playhouse) to shed light on certain parts of The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe as well. They had the same actress playing Mrs McCready and the White Witch and the same actor to play Professor Kirke and Santa Claus, drawing attention to the parallels between the respective characters. There was also a song about there being room at the Stone Table for anyone wishing to be with Aslan, which could draw comparisons with there being room in Heaven for anyone wishing to be with God.

Donnie Darko Wasn't sure what to expect from this film, but I really got into it and couldn't stop thinking about it until I went to bed. I'm sure most of you have seen it so I won't bother explaining the plot.......my favourite line,'Why are you wearing that stupid bunny outfit?' to which Frank replies 'Why are you wearing that stupid man suit?' One of my fave's - 9/10

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas This was a really poignant film which highlights the attitudes and feelings of people involved during the holocaust. It's a story of an 8 year old German boy and his friendship with an 8 year old Jewish boy. I would seriously recommend this to anyone. It may have made me shed a tear or two 9/10

Woo, that's at the Playhouse now. I've only seen a tiny but of it though, but I really like it - the way they've done the animals is really great. The last film I watched was a little film called 'Once'. Completely gorgeous. 9/10.

Defiance - true World War 2 story starring Daniel Craig & Leiv Schreiber, who portray a pair of eastern European Jews forced to run and fight for their survival after the Germans invade Belarus.
Quality Film and an amazing story with top performances from the lead actors.
8/10
Eden Lake - English thriller where a young couple get terrorised by a young gang while on a 'romantic' weekend.
Good film, keeps you on the edge of your seat and is well worth a watch. The only downer was that it was, in parts, a little bit predicatable.
7/10

I quite like those kind of movies Duel too although that's a bit different.

Play It Again, Sam.
Funny and very charming. 9/10
Misery.
The book is substantially better, but it still had me watching between my fingers at certain points. Sledgehammer - buh. James Caan and Kathy Bates were excellent. I don't know what other actresses Bates was up against for the Oscar, but her performance was very worthy.
7/10
