SaharaThe best way to sum the film up, in a nutshell, is Indiana Jones meets James Bond, with added Hollywood testosterone .... sounds bloody awful I did expect it to be, in honesty... but it gets the balance just right

Drop Dead Fred
Rik Mayall plays the childhood imaginary friend of a young grl who's now grown up. To quote his character, "Grown up? Great... That means there's lots of grown-up stuff to smash!"
That probably tells you all you need to know about the film. Stupid, but genuinely funny ;D
7/10

Gothika
Gothika stars Halle Berry as Dr. Miranda Grey, a psychiatrist who becomes a patient in her own mental hospital after she is accused of murdering her husband. Grey's only initial memory of the incident involves a chilling encounter with a distraught girl on a rain-soaked road. The incarcerated and medicated Grey is now haunted by the same apparition, and she must convince her former colleague Pete Graham (Robert Downey Jr.) that she is not insane or guilty of murder. Meanwhile, the seemingly mad ramblings of Chloe (Penelope Cruz), one of Grey's former patients, now make more sense, and Grey must throw aside clinical logic to solve the supernatural murder mystery.
A friend recommended this film to me with the promise of it being "a headfuck" and she wasn't far from the truth there. It's certainly one of the better psychological-thriller films I've seen in recent years, with suspense building up nicely, and a genuine sense of confusion for a large portion of the film. It is, in places, genuinely freaky, and the film is acted and directed brilliantly.
The ending was perhaps a little weak, but in truth I can't think of any better direction they could have taken it.
8/10

Pan's LabyrinthIt's been reviewed to death on here, so I don't think I need bother with repeating the plot. I'm probably gonna be branded a philistine for this, but I don't think the film lived up to the hype. Don't get me wrong; the acting was brilliant, the visuals were amazing, the plot was interesting - I can't pick any fault with the film on any technical level. It just felt to me that there was something missing - I enjoyed it, but the film didn't really feel like it came to life. There wasn't anything that, for me, really made it stand out. All that said, the mood the film creates may have been spoilt somewhat by the fact that the DVD kept stuttering and stopping, so perhaps my review should be taken with a pinch of salt. 7.5/10I will note, though, that I am dead impressed that the faun and The Pale Man were both body suits, rather than CG creations. Fantastic craftsmanship!

Watchmen
I've not read the comics so I can't say how true the film is to them, but the film is very entertaining.
Set in an alternative 1970's New York where Nixon is elected for a 3rd term, the USA is locked in a deep cold war with the USSR. The clock to destruction is ticking and a band of retired super heros (not your squeaky clean types) are the only ones who can avert the destruction of the world.
It is dark, gory, sexy and follows a good story line. I really liked it and to see a super hero film with proper gore and sex is quite refreshing.
I'd buy it on DVD so 9/10

Seven Pounds is an amazingly great movie.
I can't say anything, 'cause the plot is so fantastic that I don't want to risk spoiling even a second. God, I bawled during several points.
9.5/10
(Purely because there was one point, nearly a half hour from the end, that I had to check and see how much of it was left. That's because it was past 1am, and I wanted to know how much later I'd be awake, but it had that smidgen, veeeeery small bit of drag around then. It would get the 10/10 otherwise!)

I saw it recently too, I went with my dad who doesn't like football and he came out with the impression that Leeds were a horribly dirty team and his opinion of Billy Bremner had gone down immensely. He also had a lot more respect for Clough than Revie at the end. That is what pissed me off about the film, it's an enjoyable watch for even a non football fan but the lies, all the bullshit in the film and the way they showed a all the off the ball incidents (which was common with most teams in the 70s) instead of showing what a fantastic team Leeds were between 1969 and 1974, the message was clear. Make Leeds look bad, make the players look like twats and make them say and do things they didn't actually do, (the rough challenge on Clough by Hunter I think it was, never happened), at the end focus on Revie’s retreat from football not long after leaving Leeds rather than on his achievements, I could go on and on about the factual inaccuracies very many including Clough too and we should know it's fiction based on fact (at the very most) but ignorant people won't see it like that. People who already hate Leeds with feed off of this ignoring the brief illustration the film shows of Leeds being the dominant force in football, the best team in the country for the best part of a decade because they can't revel in that.

Rock n RollaGuy Ritchies latest offering and a thoroughly enjoyable one at that. Typical Ritchie 'Gangsta' film, shot in a very stylish manner and with solid performances from all the leading cast. Basic story is about a series of london criminals who's stories all intertwine and overlap, which can at times be confusing at times. Once you get your head around it though, all the criminals are unwittingly ripping each other off and, as is normal in these kinds of films, it all comes together in a very clever ending. I expected nothing, but really enjoyed this. 7.75/10

The SpiritI've not read the graphic novel/comics/whatever you want to call 'em, to warn you all up front. I love the hyper-real colors. I love the sense of humor, especially with Octopus and his...uhm, it was just strange, and I have a really warped sense of humor. I'm sure the plot would make a bit more sense if I read the graphic novel/comics/etc, but it was fine just the same. The Spirit himself bored me a bit, but Octopus was great! (But then again, when isn't Sam Jackson great? I've never seen a film where I didn't love his acting.) I'm sure it would've run better if I'd actually been a fan of the series - it dragged a bit for me, at times - so I can't give it a higher score, but I'm definitely gonna check out the comics now, especially if the sense of humor is just as warped! 8.5/10 That's very random of you! Not unexpected, but still random

THE COUNTERFEITERS...... a true story based on the largest counterfeiting operation in history set up by the nazis in 1936 salomon sorowitsch is the worlds greatest counterfeiter who lives a life of booze women and cards until he is arrested and thrown into a nazi concentration camp... his skills are then used by the nazis to help finance the war effort and flood the british and american economies with fake currency. extremley moving film in places as solomon is faced with the moral dilemma of helping the nazis and prolong the war or risk the life of fellow prisoners in the camp ..... worth a watch 9/10 for me...
