ok, noticed few comments regarding foreign players in the league, as wenger said hardly any until 90's, still won nothing, italy has equlish amount, won world cup, france best players all play abroad, spain has loads won nothing either!
dont think the 11 world class players are there, but a decent manager can get more than the players alone! think n ireland, scotland, ireland in past, not full of world class players, but manager with the motivation to get them to get results!!!

Only read up to page two on the thread, and couldn't be arsed with the rest.
My thoughts in summary:
- Fucking shit abysmal - Aside from Beckham (and arguably Crouch, who at least looked like he gave a toss throughout), the team should be fucking ashamed of themselves - No natural leaders on the pitch when Beckham's not about (remember the likes of Shearer, Ince, Psycho, Scholes bellowing orders to everyone around them?)
I want to know what happened at 2-2 - did McClaren tell the players to sit back and defend the last 20 minutes against a team that's dangerous on the attack, or did they do it themselves? If he instructed them to, then he should be out on his arse immediately - that sort of tactical naivety/stupidity is inexcusable. If he didn't, I'll at least wait to see what the FA have to say about sacking him - he has at least improved since he took over (though that's hardly difficult or unexpected), and I can't think of any suitable replacements who'd want the job at the moment. Alan Shearer? Don't make me laugh; let him try actually managing a team first?

Just looking at the BBC's player raters; Croatia's rating range from 6.12 to 7.71, while England's go from 2.79 (Bridge) to 6.88 (Crouch). Take Crouch and Beckham out of the equation, and England's highest is Joe Cole with 4.99.
Sort of sums up what I said - Crouch and Beckham aside, it was fucking dire.

The whole back 4 and especially Bridge were so bad it was embarrassing to watch. And Wright Phillips should take up another sport like chess where he cant run down any blind alleys
