I tell you what, our coaching staff need some help with motivation! we've let a promising start slip away in the Championship, and our apparent lack of interest has cost us in the Pro40 as well - we're in dfanger of relegation from both leagues, and given our start against Lancashire (32 for 3) somin needs to happen! Come on boys pull yer fingers out!

Relegation to Division 2 confirmed after Kent beat Hampshire yesterday. An absolute disgrace if you ask me - here was a team beating opponents by an inninngs at the start of the season, and now we've been relegated! I really think our coaches need to look at themselves because our motivation seems to have totally disappeared in the second half of the season. Once again, our overseas "stars" were bit players - mostly because of internatioanl commitments - and once again our bowling has been pretty ordinary all season. Not happy AT ALL and expect us to get in shape and bounce back with promotion next year.

AAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNDDDDDDDDDDDDDD When we play Hampshire they always beat us, but when we need them to do us a favour, they go and bloody lose!!! To be fair, we've had shit loads of games lately with a limited squad. There's a good chance we'll end the season as runner up in the FP Trophy, One Day League and the County Championship. Still....no excuse for some of the games we've chucked away. Whenever its come to the crunch game, we've not delivered unfortunatly and thats not good enough. Ah well.

Two relegations in one season. Ah well, at least we put some sort of dampener on Worcestershire's title celebrations with that 7 wicket win.

Well, the new season for us starts tomorrow at Edgbaston against Worcestershire.
Irish paceman Boyd Rankin is set for a Championship debut for Warwickshire after being named in their 12.
Jimmy Anyon (forearm), Naqaash Tahir (shin splints) and Ian Salisbury (shoulder) are injured, while Monde Zondeki is still in South Africa.
Warwickshire (from): Maddy (capt), Westwood, Trott, Troughton, Powell, Poonia, Frost (wkt), Groenewald, Botha, Carter, Rankin, Daggett.
Hopefully the batters will revert to the form they showed at the start of last season as opposed to carrying on the 'momentum' from the end. And if a five-man tail is used again this season, they'd better take some wickets!

So the first day draw to a close at Edgbaston and after dismissing Worcestershire for 249, Warwickshire find themselves at 39-3. Carter took 3-38 with Trott surprisingly being the next best bowler with 3-44. Be prepared probably for an early wicket tomorrow in the form of Daggett as the night watchman, but hopefully Trott will get his batting going. Westwood went for a thrid ball duck, Maddy for 8 and Powell for 29. That 29 came from 35 deliveries, which sounds a decent strike rate, but then the scorecard also shows he hit seven 4s, so he only ran one run in 34 balls. No doubt about the man of the day though, with Worcestershire's Stephen Moore hitting an unbeaten 109.

Well, the last two days have gone really well................................for Worcestershire. Losing our seventh wicket on 204, we lost the last three wickets all on 215, giving Worcestershire a lead of 34. Not that bad a deficit you might think. Worcs lose their first wicket on 5, so all is looking well. Just a shame we then promptly let them rack up successive parterships of 141 and 100 with them eventually declaring on 447-7. Although credit must be given to Solanki and Hick (still going at 41 years ) for their respective scores of 140 and 101. So, that second innings from Worcestershire leaves the Bears with a target of 482, a total that according to the BBC has never been scored in a County Championship match at Edgbaston. Looks like it ain't gonna happen this match either. Warwickshire reach 26-3 at Stumps with the loss of Maddy, Westwood and Trott. A heavy defeat beckons and rain is the only hope methinks.
