The one on the left does it for me. I've just found out she was voted Miss.Mongolia 2000-2005. ;D Her prize was a dozen bactrians, a herd of goats & a couple of tents.

The former I think. This thread has gone pretty off topic has it not ? Great examples of grace & beauty. A fitting image of the games.

Talk about over zealousness. But like a fair few popstars . news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/7556058.stmThey might as well given China the gold in the womens team gymnastics event. I doubt even if the mens team had fallen off half their apparatuses it would have affected the result. Homer judging again. Russia again mysteriously marked down. Russia are not having a great games thus far.The womens volleyballers & world champions losing to Brazil & the mens basketballers coming unstuck against Croatia. But as expected China & US lead the way. For an even comparison they should award 3 points for a gold, two for a silver one, for a bronze & then divide the points total by the numer of competitors in the team. Which means NZ are the most sucessful ever Olympians believe it or not 112 years after the inception of the modern Games.

Will catch every minute I can, of course the coverage starts at 2am over here, so will rely on the replays on the major networks.
They are playing the Games constantly on the plasma screens around work in the common areas, so will stop by and watch during lunch, etc. ;D

Yep he is. Equalled Spitzs medal tally from 68 & 72 & is now in the elite group of Olympians. Wonder if he'll decide to carry on until 2012. He has no need to financially wise. Apparently some of the fireworks were 'faked' as well. The atmosphere at many of the venues is very poor. The best has to be Sydney 2000 when the Aussies supported every event & enjoyed each discipline and there were numerous supporters from all over the world. Looking at some of these venues there are very low numbers of 'foreign' supporters so to speak which diminishes the experience. Having to use cheerleaders to whip up the crowd is no use.Its all so artificial as at the archery & baseketball. Must say the performing pandas during the basketball halves are extremely cute. Argentinas Manu Ginobli led the champions to a reasonably comfortable win but the US made Angola look like kids. The softball looks quite one sided .Surely GB can field a team. Its just like rounders & less difficult than baseball.

Phelps continues majestically despite water filling his goggles he thrashed the field once more & becomes the 'greatest' Olympian. Steph Reis is taking the womens mantle whereas Katy Hoff the female equivalent of Phelps and still only 19 has failed miserably bhy her standards only winning a bronze from four finals. China took the womens team event & Russia screwed up & for the first time in over 60 years failed to take a medal in either the mens or womens team events, largely due to some nerves with a young team in both instances. Womens basketball looks like Russia & USA will end up in the finals on current form. Womens volleyball Russia the world champions look like they will struggle to make the medal round having lost again. The mens competition they are looking good. USA & China top the softball table. And in the team performance of the tournament the Aussie mens hockey team demolished South Africa 10-0. Mens handball Russia & Sweden are expected to end up in the top two & in the water polo its the traditional nations on top namely Hungary,Italy.Croatia & Serbia plus the newly independent Montenegro. One other event drew some attention.Whilst being meaningless in terms of qualification Brazil & Oz winning this group it was another sporting clash between Russia & Georgia. www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/othersports/olympics/2550956/Georgia-tops-Russia-in-Olympic-beach-volleyball-clash---Olympics.htmlYou can hardly call the Georgian team Georgian & its something that sports bodies need to clamp down on with passports of convenience. Its not a case ie Kirsty Coventry of British parentage but competing for Zimbabwe when she trains here & should have been asked to join Team GB Team GB are considering this for 2012 & I for one am against it. Have your own indigenous programs for your athletes not recruit from abroad. Cant wait for the rugby union matches in the European Cup though .Already fiery encounters I cannot imagine what they will be like now.

Could it just possibly be that Kirsty Coventry doesn't want to compete for Team GB and is happy to represent her country, showing some support for Zimbabwe? It shows a patriotic heart, does that!

I know imp but it would wonders for OUR medal tally. ;D Mind you she does lend herself to the propaganda machine of Mugabe which is quite unashamedly two faced. Whilst driving white farmers off their land & attacking their families they are quit content to bask in her reflected glory. It would make sense for her to compete for us.2012 perhaps ?

You might possibly argue that it might also have made sense for Fiona May to have continued competing for the UK after she became an Italian citizen through marriage? But I would be inclined to disagree. And look at the shit-storm Zola Budd created in 1984? And, Wilson Kipketer, despite being granted Danish Citizenship and who achieved world championship success for his adopted country in 1995 in the 800m, was prevented from running for Denmark in the Atlanta games in 1996 by the IOC. As for 2012, what we should be focussing on is the continued nurturing and supporting of developing athletes in this country. We don't need any hangers on from other countries thank you very much.
