Just a matter of eight weeks away I think. Pity its held in such a poluuted environment which will benefit no athlete.
I know the tourney is held with disdain here in the UK by many but for most countries its an oppurtunity to blood their promising kid s& see how they fare.
Many a youngster in recent times from 1996 has gone on from the tournament to find fame & fortune.
The groups are:
Group A Argentina Ivory Coast Australia & Serbia
Group B Holland Nigeria Japan USA
Group C Brazil China Belgium NZ
Group D Italy Cameroon Honduras South Korea
The holders are Argentina & previous finals inc.a memorable comeback for Cameroon against Spain in 2000 in Athens.
Full details:

Argentina squad is:
Goalkeepers:
Oscar USTARI (Getafe) Sergio ROMERO (AZ Alkmaar)
Defenders:
Pablo ZABALETA (Espanyol), Ezequiel GARAY (Real Madrid, Federico FAZIO (Sevilla), Nicolás BURDISSO (Internazionale)Luciano MONZÓN (Boca Juniors)
Midfielders:
Fernando GAGO (Real Madrid) Ever BANEGA (Valencia) Javier MASCHERANO (Liverpool), Juan Román RIQUELME (Boca Juniors) Angel DI MARÍA (Benfica) José SOSA (Bayern Munich)Diego BUONANOTTE (River Plate)
Forwards:
Lionel MESSI (Barcelona) Ezequiel LAVEZZI (Napoli) Lautaro ACOSTA (Sevilla) Sergio AGÜERO (Atlético Madrid).
Coach is the bearded midfielder of the 80s Checho Batista who will be playing around with some unusual formations for an Argentina side namely 4-2-2-2 the formation used by Brazil in 1970.
Surprise is Acosta recently signed by Sevilla ahead of the likes of Higuain, Zarate, Escudero & Cavenaghi or Denis. There is no real out & out striker ie a number 9 & the front line will be small butvery gifted.
Acosta will play wide right with Messi in a central role & di Maria far more talented(Arsenal bound perhaps) on the left.
Players like Dimichelis & Gonzalo were not allowed to go because clubs like Bayern & Villareal think they are bigger than national associations. Wankers.
And unfortunately Barca are trying to stop Messi too fat chance. If they keep persisting he will move make no mistake about it. They need him far more than he needs them.
Monzon is a talented young left back who Boca are also trying to prevent playing in this case because they fear he will be signed by several top European clubs who are tracking him.
The left back berth seems to be far less of a problem now with the emergence of Monzon & Ansaldi with Insua also at Liverpool.
Funny thing about the 'fixed' draw is China will be in with Brazil & yet again Brazil have an easy group.
