Damn you Ovech! ;D Hey I'm not at fault. Argentina 2-1 Ivory Coast. A fortunate win for the tournament favourites. IC deservedly equalised thorugh Sekou Cisse & after Batusta followed by advice with di Maria slung on for Lavezzi Argentina looked more of a threat & a quickly taken free kick resulting in a goal for subsitute Acosta. IC deserve the kudos with a very young team & Argentina have a lot of work to do esp.in defence. Ustaris keeping was poor & my doubts about him are growing. Carizzo is miles better as is Romero. A win though is a win.

It was a very enjoyable game. Jose Sosa made it on for the last 4 seconds too.
The Holland game in comparison was very poor, finished 0-0. They could barely string two passes together. Evander Sno sent off aswell.

Lavezzi scored for a disappointing 1-0 win over the Olyroos.
Three clear cut chances were wasted, two surprisingly by Messi & the 4-2-2-2 formation is not working.
The real star was di Maria on the left.Pace. trickery & delivery.
Elsewhere Dinho rattled in two as Brazil unsurprisingly Koed NZ 5-0.
Nigeria eased to a 2-1 in over Japan with Cameroon struggling to a 1-0 win over Honduras.

Was a shocking decision by the BBC to screen the Nigeria v Japan match instead of the Argentina or Brazil one, unbelievable. I was forced to watch via a live stream

No it wasn't! Was it? I'm sure it was GB. I've been watching so much sport ,its like being in a flotation tank so I'm not entirely sure. Good for Kompany. Representing your country is far more important than any club. Messi has been allowed to stay but the culers will prevent him from playing any friendlies over the next season for Argentina. Might be a problem as Argentinas friendlies are run by Renova , a Russian firm whose terms stipulate he must appear in all such friendlies.

Those two US goals against NZ were howlers. ;D Surprised to see Norway get thumped 5-1 today by Korea I think.

The question is WHY is there no England squad in the Olympics It just seems so wrong !!! cos England go together with Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland as Great Britain and not separate nations, which is crap really considering both England mens and womens teams qualified but were unable to compete. they want to form a Team for 2012 but that could spell the end of GB meaning theyll all compete seperately like they do in the Commonwealth games

USA had to play for 87+ minutes with 10 men due to a straight RED card at 3 mins into the game.

That Wynne fellow looks a decent right back though. Promise Isaac & former Chievo man Obinna with the goals. Pretty slow tempo because of the conditions. Jolly unlukcy no tot qualify if only against Holland who now make it but very unconvincingly against Japan. Late penalty from Kljestan too little too late. Harsh on the man sent off too.

Argentina 1-0 over Serbia. Messi, Ustari & JRR were rested with Banega playing alongside Gago.di Maria missed two penalties but sparkled with Mascherano at times playing sweeper & the giant Fazio impressing infront of him once again. Buonanotte scored the goal. Brazil beat China 3-0 inc a good ccurling free kick from Thiago Neves. Qualifiers for the QFs: Argentina Ivory Coast Brazil Belgium Nigeria Holland Italy Cameroon I think .Not entirely sure & I've no idea of the QF match ups though as a follower of Argentina Belgium are the weakest side on paper. Brazil,Belgium,Ivory Coast & Holland have never won the Olympic gold.

Quick recap of the womens quarter finals. Some neat technical football but so painfully slow. And some more goalkeeping howlers. ;D Women's quarter finals: China 0-2 Japan Sweden 0-2 Germany Brazil 2-1 Norway United States 2-1 Canada The US just squeezed past in extra time & a very well coached Japanese team eased past China. Some very tough semifinal match ups ahead .Germany v the USA is the predicted final but Germany look far from fluent. Indeed many of their team look far from feminine. ;D

Brazil benefit from another dubious refereeing decision with a Cameroonian player sent off for a innocuous challenge & picking up a second yellow card.
Terrible football from Brazil. Hoofball. No woner the majority of Brazilian fans want rid of Dung Beetle.
Italy also out a surprise 3-2 defeat against Belgum.
Coming up at 1400 Argentina v Holland & Nigeria against the Ivory Coast.
