Saw the reviews on this new console, not really a gamer myself. But I really like the concept of the joypad/controller.
Anyone actually got one - hit the streets today

Mine arrived in the post at 7:30 this morning! ;D Not had a chance to play it yet, obviously; it's still sitting at home, calling to me ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) How ironic - as we approach the 'shortest day' of the year, I'm going through one of the longest Fridays I can remember ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) I did get the bits out of the box to play with briefly though; the controller feels absolutely fantastic - I was worried it might be a little clumsy at first, but it's spot-on!

Well I'll await your report sir, but the concept really appeals to me. Furthermore it's not overly expensive

I considered waiting for the Wii to come out however the xbox was too good to leave. The wii graphics look too cartoony and although the control pad looks Fab not really my idea of playing the console. Nintendo have let consumers down consistantly and I feel this will add to that ever growing failing list

Nintendo have let consumers down consistantly ?! First time I've heard that ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png) Last I was aware, their history was better than Sony's and Microsoft's! With the Wii, you get what you pay for - a games console. You can't run your TV/Radio/Microwave through it, you can't play DVDs etc, but for me that's part of the beauty of it. That's all I want - I don't want to pay extra for the rest. The Wii Sport graphics are cartoony, granted, but the likes of Metroid Prime, Red Steel, Project H.A.M.M.E.R. and Call of Duty are much better, and the Wiimote will give them a totally different gaming experience - which is what hooked me. It's the only truly next-gen console that does something different - everything else is just a processor and video card upgrade. The other things about the Wii are that the games are much cheaper to develop and to buy, and it's got a lot of third-party backing - the PS3 is scaring a lot of people off because the games cost stupid amounts to develop; they have to sell something like half a million just to get a profit. The Wii is shipping consoles faster than the others (it's out-performing the PS3 something like 6:1 in the US) and the amount of prospective buyers is going to attract developers too. I'm just a big kid anyway - when I was younger, me and my cousin used to make swords out of metal pipes and fight with them in the garden; I'm looking forward to being able to do that again with Zelda etc! ;D

N64, Gamecube, the new gameboys they are built up to be this and that and in the short term they are, granted, great buys but the everyday gamer wants realism. Nintendo is going for the safe family entertainment route. Graphicswise, controllerwise and most of the titles are family orientated. Its shown from the Xbox (and 360), the Playstation (and 2) that they are the 2 biggest sellers out of the so called 'next generation consoles'

Its shown from the Xbox (and 360), the Playstation (and 2) that they are the 2 biggest sellers out of the so called 'next generation consoles' Have to admit, I beg to differ - most people I've spoken to are going for a Wii because it's a simple, fun console, rather than despite it. Many of my friends have a 360 too, but they're more excited about the Wii. Graphics only impress me to a point; it's the gameplay I love, hence why I still have a working Master System and Megadrive. It's not only for family play either - some of the solo titles (Zelda and Red Steel for starters) look great IMO, and the 'family' ones look more suited to having my mates round with a crate of beers! (A view supported by many US gaming friends) Still, each to their own - I'm planning to get a 360 when the price comes down, if enough games appeal, but the Wii's the only one that really excited me. In fact, I was Wii-ing all over the place! ...I'll get my coat ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

Or you could wait a while for the price to come down and better games to be released. PS3 will be the dogs bollocks.
