Today's purchases (well it is payday) Raging Bull Once Upon A Time In America Ed Wood Animal House All for 20 quid Starship Troopers - Because I needed a third film, it's a fine film, and I saw a demo disc the other week in the Sony shop and it looked and sounded fantastic! ;D My favourite line from that film: "They sucked his brains out!" ;D Ha ha ha ha ha

Is it bad that I watched the first 5 or so minutes of Atonement and switched it off?

Starship Troopers is indeed great! Guns, tits and giant insects! What more can you want Like Robocop before it it's actually quite a clever film It is!!! So many people have written it off as a piece of SFX tat but it's a very intelligent satire for anybody who actually pays attention. All the observations of propaganda, brainwashing and lack of identity are very well made. I take your initial points too though! The only downfall of it is that the acting stinks, but what can you expect when Denise Richards is taking top billing? ;D

Denise Richards is taking top billing? ;D She really does have top billings! I hereby claim the award for most tenuous breast innuendo of the day, it won't be beaten ;D

Is it bad that I watched the first 5 or so minutes of Atonement and switched it off? It's a British period drama so by it's very nature it's vastly over-rated! I didn't think it was a bad watch by any means, but it was classic fodder for the BAFTA lot come awards season. Interesting that it didn't make much of an impact on Oscars night though.

Then of course there's Wild Things!! ;D

She's not the greatest of actors is she? I love the fact that she's referred to as Ikea Knightley on the Five Live film reviews programme. ;D

Mamma Mia!
My friends dragged me along to this, and to be honest, I didn't like it at all. I'm not into musicals, I didn't like Hairspray, I hate The Sound Of Music, and any sitcoms that spontaneously burst into song.
Although, Pierce Brosnan's singing was hilariously awful. Which made it slightly worth it. Slightly. It all seemed very random, there was some poor acting. And the bit with rolling about on the roof... Well. God knows. 4/10.

[...] OG's rating: 5.5 / 10 A film about a strip club, with a lot of T&A, and it only gets 5.5 from OG?! It must be bad!

DAYS OF GLORY (Indigènes)Set in WWII, this is a moving and powerful film depicting the journey that 4 North African volunteers embark upon after enlisting amongst the 230,000 North Africans who fought to liberate France. This film tells of the discrimination they faced amongst their own as they battled. The way they were mistreated, overlooked for promotion, fed sub standard food and generally treated like slaves led to them questioning their purpose in the war and this film follows in detail the trauma, bravery and dedication showed by the North African forces. Despite all the racism, the North Africans continued to fight for the freedom of the country they believed to be theirs. Whilst not as blood thirsty as Saving Private Ryan, it is no less powerful as a war film and is well acted, well shot and realistic. The film is mainly in French with some Arabic so subtitles are needed, which can sometimes take your attention away from some of the more powerful screenshots but despite this i thoroughly enjoyed it. 7/10

Oh it is, truly a god awful film very very lame (plotwise) !!! however, if you want to see Daryl Hannah's breasts, it's a good flick to checkout!! Oh yeah & a little bonus if you've seen Greys Anatomy - Sandra Oh is the Asian doctor on that show & yes you do get full frontal of her in this movie !!! (small & perky)

The Last King Of Scotland
An excellent political thriller featuring two stellar performances from James McAvoy as a naive Scottish doctor playing with fire when he bonds with Ugandan dictator Idi Amin in the early 1970's.
Really hard to watch at times (another film I would question the rating of) but well worth two hours of your time.
8/10

Dead Mens Shoes
Trav & GT both rave about this Shane Meadows film, so I thought I'd give it watch. Well what can I say, I was disappointed, there were no deadly ninjas, a killer virus hadn't infected everyone and the world wasn't about to be destroyed by aliens smashing into us in a hollowed out comet!! What it was however was well thought out, well paced and engaging. Like the other two I'd thoroughly recommend it!
9.5/10

It's ok, I'm just waiting for Hollywood to remake it with Adam Sandler! ........ that would be like remaking the Full Monty, with Bruce Willis in the lead role!!
