Mean Creek 7/10 I liked it but it lack a few things. It's a film about a few kids who have a problem with a bully and sort him out on a boating trip. It's a film that is NOT for kids I might add. I must admit, I'm intrigued... I shall have to look into it! I bought it myself Neko. Very young cast, nobody over the age of about 18 (at least in the movie) has a significant role. Very much an 'indie flick', features McCauley Culkin's brother, Rory who seems to be making waves in Hollywood. Just read the back of the dvd cover, Total Film described it as "Deliverance meets Stand By Me, with echoes of River's Edge", think they pretty much nailed it there.

Ah right, OK, yes the trailer does look promising but if it's actually a good film we'll have to wait and see.

Well I just saw Dogma and yeah it's a quality movie just like most of the Kevin Smith films. I'd give it just about 8/10 I think. It is far from a perfect film, has loads of things wrong with it, but also a great deal of things right with it. Some really funny parts, almost too serious I thought and it's good to see big parts given to Jay, Silent Bob and Chris Rock's character. Has a good cast and is well worth a watch especially if you like Smith's other films. I'll watch Swingers tomorrow and probably the Fitfh Element again on Saturday. Awesome ;D

Awesome ;D Glad you enjoyed it Lucas - should help you connect a lot more things that you saw in JASBSB. If you watch all the movies from Clerks onwards, it's amazing just how many in jokes and nods there are referencing situations and characters in the preceding movies - obviously JASBST takes this to the extreme by bringing back all the previous characters for cameos. Kevin Smith is a legend!

Yeah like I noticed the stupid cow thing in that film that appears in JASBSB as well as Clerks 2 aparently.

Going to try and get to see Clerks 2 on Monday night, (busy all weekend). First time in ages I've actually looked forward to seeing a movie. Most movies I've seen recently I've just watched for disposable entertainment, it's been ages since I actually felt vaguely excited about seeing a movie.

Watched about an hour of Dogma. Overrated and dull, sorry.

Jackass 2 is the #1 movie in America Borat has got 5 stars in Empire!!!! Film 4's line-up tonight is great. Swingers is brilliant, but so is Spellbound if you haven't seen it (I know it doesn't sound like it would be), and Go! is a top drawer teen movie in told in a Pulp fiction-esque, narrative style.

I can't wait for Borat, it is going to be the only film I've ever watched that I'll laugh all the way through, I'm sure of it.
Yep I'll be watching Swingers tonight. I've seen Spellbound, pretty good. I've seen most of Go! too, nothing special.

Just watched Swingers pretty good movie. Probably not one that I would want to watch more than twice. Why? Mainly because it has no real story. I could write a big review about it but I won't. It's pretty good but lacks a good story line, hence it ending like it does, it's allowed to end like that because you don't really care what happens to the characters. 7/10 Worth a watch for sure, but far from a masterpeice, for a comedy there could have been a few more funny moments thrown in there.

Never really considered it a comedy, think it is perceived so because Vince Vaughan is in it. More a mixture of bravado and malencholy for me. Think we need a 'sister thread' to complement this one LL

Seen that myself, the killing of the turtle and the other animal were the most gruesome parts for me. Oh, and the punishment for dishonourable women, that was pretty savage too!!

Even though I was totally inebriated I thought it was wrong. That turtle scene is wrong on so many levels Kinda puts into perspective the scene in 'I Spit On Your Grave' when the herione seduces one of men who raped her, to share her bath, before producing a long knife and cutting his cock off Mind you, in all seriousness, the gang rape scene in that is probably the most disturbing thing I've ever seen in a film.

The Fifth Element 8/10 quality film, I would have given it 8.5, but the story was a little hard to follow and erratic, also the blue opera singing thing really anoyed me, waste of celluloid for that. If you haven't watch it yet. Why not?!
