no football related film is ever any good........ except when saturday comes ;D Now that film deserves an award for being so bad. Mind you, against my better judgement I was talked into watching 'Sex In The City' at the cinema recently and thought that was pretty poor.

Well, brother and sister gave me the 28 Days/Weeks Later boxset for birthday, so watched those the last couple of nights.
First thing I'm gonna point out is I don't have a great interest usually in bloody horrors (Dog Soldiers being an exception because that's just funny ;D), but prefer the chillers such as the adaptions of The Shining, Christine and Carrie from Stephen King.
Both films kept the pace going well enough, but apart from the point about the families needing each other, I can't say I rated either film. Preferred the first one though, simply because the second one seemed far too interested in making things as bloody as possible and that was about it. I can't really say I'm squeamish, but at the same time, I just saw no need for one scene in which Robert Carlyle digs his thumbs into and gouges his wife's eyes before killing her. Not to mention how he seems to escape everything and then there's the loose end of whether his son's become a carrier of the disease or withstood it completely.
28 Days Later 6/10 28 Weeks Later 4-5/10

True to my word I watched Dead Man's Shoes again. It is one of those rare beasts that just gets better and more affecting with every watch. And the end still really gets under my skin emotionally.

No! No! No! No!!!! 28 Weeks Later is a far better film! Wider in scope, better directed and with a far more political subtext!

I have a copy of 'Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want' now, it's probably my favourite cover of all time! The use of music in DMS is as effective as in Get Carter IMO. For instance the eerie monotone whine when Richard is in the old men's house or waiting outside for Herbie.

Another nightmare film combo though mate - 29 1/2 Weeks. Mickey Rourke and Kim Basinger embark on a passionate no holds barred affair. All is well until zombie molecules frozen in an ice cube are absorbed into Rourke's digestive tract...

I bought a brand new Clayhill album - Stone Circle, I think it's called - from Amazon Marketplace - and payed 75p plus p&p!! ;D There's a Clayhill tune called Afterlight on the soundtrack that's on that very album. I do like the Bonnie 'Prince' Billy tune too. I have the Get Carter soundtrack!! Some fine Roy Budd compositions and I like the Northern Soul stuff too.
