***NEW TOPIC***
The Italian Scandal.
What do you reckon?
Do you think the punishments were a bit harsh..or perfectly fair? Will Juve get relegated to Serie C because of the amount of points they have to make up?
Do you reckon something like that would/could happen in the English game?

To be honest I think it was perfectly fair and I think it should happen in the English game if clubs are found guilty in the dodgy transfer dealings..... to be honest I think its what the English game needs, the tob clubs getting ruffled up a bit and some of the big name foreigners leaving....

I don't think Juve will go down - they'll surely hold on to enough players to be able to make up those points against Serie B opposition - but it could be a while before they reach Serie A again. I reckon five years.
As for the English game - there's enough money in it now to make it perfectly plausible, but I don't honestly believe it would. There are far too many people who would be too willing to expose it, not least of all the media, for it to be pulled off. In Italy, football is almost seen as a religion, whereas here people would leap at the chance to drag names like Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea through the dirt. Over there, the news was greeted with shock - in England, I think there'd be more than a little schadenfreude going round.
(FYI, schadenfreude is German for 'happiness at the misfortune of others')

Well after the Italian F.A. pretty much reversed the original verdict, I think they are even more of a joke than they were before. What a bunch of cowards, and now they are about to let AC Milan back into Europe into the Qualifying Round, disgraceful. Hopefully nothing like this happens in the game over here, but if the situation arose, I'd link to think our F.A. would deal with it well...

The FA is incompetant, inconsistant and lacks common sense. No doubt the Italian FA is probably corrupted too, so it's not surprising that the punishment has been scaled down.

Oh yea, no doubt the Italian F.A. has corruption problems, I'm sure. Think our F.A. isn't corrupt, just incapable!

It has happened here though hasn't it? As I recall it was pinned on individuals, but I could never envisage goalkeepers acting alone, and for anything to go unnoticed.
I'm disappointed they cut the penalties - a message needed to be sent not just to Italy but to beyond.
