Look mate, you'll get somewhere - furthermore your money will improve Realistically, I need to be earning another 9k a year to get on the market at current prices. Given that my pay increases at about 3% a year, not allowing for any bonus rises, I can expect to get started in about 15 years at the current prices. Like I said, I want a crash! (Apologies to homeowners there, but at least you're secure on that front!)

Got to be in a 'key sector' (nurses, teachers etc) or approved on a Local Housing Regulator list. And even then, I've had a look round and the nearest places I can find are nowhere near me at the mo. Can't believe I'd be looking at up to 90k for a bloody studio apartment (This is back to 'unreasonable prices', not shared ownership )

just calculated my annual salary from dollars to pounds. I'd only be making £72K+ across the pond. and to answer your 2nd question I work for Dept. of Homeland Security in the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). My job is to prevent terrorists and terrorist weapons from entering the United States while facilitating the flow of legitimate trade and travel ONLY?! Arsey Americans I have a feeling that the cost of living may be a bit higher here; however, I'm not real sure of that - depends on where you live.

Not sure about thats OG my bray, fuel is at least half the price and food is for sure cheaper. I think we're one of the most expensive countries in Europe - especially if you're in the capital

I think we're one of the most expensive countries in Europe - especially if you're in the capital Cost of living here is higher than anywhere else in Europe, I believe, and London's the most expensive city in the world. OG, to give you some idea of how fuel prices compare; remember how people were complaining about paying $4 per gallon or whatever it was? We'd fall to our knees and weep tears of joy at that; at current exchange rates, we're about $9-$10 per gallon.
