news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/spl/hi/in_depth/uk_house_prices/html/31ud.stmSo...to separate the wheat from the chaff what is the average house price in the district in which you live. How much your own house is worth is irrelevant because I say so! Harborough district (Leicestershire) £253,902 bloody expensive and by far the highest in Leicestershire. But incidentally my own house is worth considerably less than that!

I was reading in the paper that house prices might be starting to fall slightly at the top end, so it would be a bad investment.

I think they did not print the detached prices in Kensington as they could not fit the zero's on the screen!
They go for £20m plus each on some roads.

No thanks ;d Mmmm no. If you brought a house 15 years ago for £100k it wouldn't be unreasonable for it to be worth over £200k now, so you'd make a lot of money. If you brought a house for £2million in Kensington now and house prices fell it may only be worth £1.5million or something when you came to sell it, hence, losing money but still not paying people to live there.
