I've deprived myself of sleep and will be staying up all night listening to the first three Tests. I've been ignoring the hype, because the pessimist inside me doesn't want me to get my hopes up. I'm still highly excited though. ;d This tour's already better than the one four years ago, we've actually won a couple of warm up games. May the best mediocre side win. Preferably not before the fourth or fifth Test.

Helo again, Mr Kid! ;D 2-1 to England, I reckon - got a bet on with Ladbrokes at around 7/4 that Jimmy Anderson will take "over 15.5" wickets in total (i.e. 16 or more) in the five tests. Money for old rope, surely?

Because betting on the England cricket team is always a shrewd, shrewd investment

Not betting on the team - just on Anderson averaging 3.2 wickets per test ;D 1-2 per innings, people!

I bet Cook gets out in the first half hour. I'm all set up for the night. Tea, Lucozade and TMS. I could do without Geoffrey, but never mind.

Ah, I thought I said Cook would get out first. That was in the text to my mum.

I needn't have bothered sleeping earlier. I'm so ridiculously nervous that I'm feeling wide awake!

86-2. Better than expected. Cook's still there, which is even more surprising. I've gone through a full teapot in two hours.
Beware the left arm spinner, KP. Beware.

I keep forgetting about England's ability to lose quick wickets...

A further 86 runs for the loss of 2 wickets leaves us 172-4 at tea. Cook's still in!

And now he's out. Well, he scored more than Strauss. And now Prior's gone for a golden duck. DAMN IT.

Somehow, I'm glad I didn't bother staying up If I'm gonna struggle at work, it should at least be worth the night before...

In an odd way, I'm glad I did, because at least I know what happened first hand rather than relying on the reports and stuff. And I got to play Boycott Bingo, which was fun. Don't think I'll do it tonight though, I've got a test tomorrow. I get the feeling jet lag's going to be a bitch...

I got back home about 4am and was in shock to see that cook was still in but not surprised to see he had not got to 50 yet. I may have been pissed at the time but from what i saw Pitch is typical aussie pitch and we've underscored but theres a bit of spin for Doherty (aka Kp destroyer) so surely a chance for Graeme "Sprinkler" Swann to do his stuff today! COME ON ENGLAND!
