City: Blades in talks with McIndoe
Bristol City manager Gary Johnson has confirmed Sheffield United are in talks with the Robins' midfielder Michael McIndoe.
Johnson expects the winger will complete a move to Bramall Lane in the "next couple of days", but Blades manager Kevin Blackwell would not be drawn on the matter.
Johnson told City's official website: "Macca is talking to Sheffield United, he hasn't been training with us.
"I expect that deal will go through in the next couple of days, but that's all I can say at this stage."
Scottish winger McIndoe, 29, arrived at Ashton Gate on a free transfer from Wolves in August 2007 and has made over 90 first-team appearances for the Robins.
Johnson also confirmed he was close to completing a deal to bring an unnamed player in the opposite direction, adding: "We've agreed terms with him and he now has to decide whether he wants to come here, or take a lucrative deal from abroad."

hopefully/presumeably the unnamed player is hendrie or carney.

Blades boss closes in on duo
Sheffield United boss Kevin Blackwell has had bids accepted for Watford striker Tommy Smith and Bristol City winger Michael McIndoe.
Blackwell has confirmed that United are now in talks with both players but admits that terms have to be agreed before they sign at Bramall Lane.
The Blades boss told the club's official website: "We are in negotiations with (Smith) and his agent and the fact that our bid has been successful and we can talk to him is a good stage to be at but it remains to be seen whether we can complete the deal.
"We had a bid knocked back for him a while ago but we have a list of four or five quality players we are interested in."
Bristol City boss Gary Johnson claimed on Wednesday that McIndoe was in talks with the Blades and Blackwell has now confirmed that he has met with the former Doncaster man.
"We are still in negotiations with people in that transfer so we will have to see how it pans out, but I have met the player," he added. "He is a good lad who I have a lot of time for, he crosses a good ball and weighs in with a few goals." ----------------------------------------------------- Evans still a target - Blackwell
Sheffield United boss Kevin Blackwell has confirmed the Blades are still in the hunt for Manchester City striker Ched Evans.
United were first linked with the Wales international earlier in the summer and Blackwell admits he is still interested in bringing the youngster to Bramall Lane.
He told the club's official website: "We are still looking at that one and have put in a couple of bids with Premier League clubs but, like us, they have only just come back so they will try and make their own signings before making decisions.
"But we have expressed our interest."
Meanwhile, second-string goalkeeper Ian Bennett has signed a one-year extension to his Bramall Lane contract.
----------------------------------------------------- so we're going for it this year then

is he talking to us/me/you? O'Toole set for Blades transferWatford midfielder John-Joe O'Toole looks set to join Sheffield United on a permanent deal after spending three months on loan last season. The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international is understood to have undergone a medical with the Blades after the two clubs reportedly agreed a fee. United have already signed Lee Williamson from the Hornets and have had a £1.8million bid for Tommy Smith accepted. Blades manager Kevin Blackwell has confirmed the club are in discussions with O'Toole, Smith and Bristol City's Michael McIndoe. He told BBC Radio Sheffield: "We are in discussions with all three and I am sure fans will agree they are all quality players. "We have to build a squad that will give us more options next season." --------------------------------------------------------------- Sun goes down on Jihai Blades staySheffield United defender Sun Jihai has left the club and returned to his native China after only one season at Bramall Lane. The 31-year-old full-back joined the Blades on a free transfer from Manchester City last summer but made just 11 league starts during his 12-month stay. "Sun found it difficult to settle here. He was living with his mother and missed his family," United manager Kevin Blackwell told BBC Radio Sheffield. "He was a great professional and was a great example to the young players at the club. I wish him all the best." ------------------------------------------------------------------- he played well for us but blackwell didn't like him.

Gray on trial with Blades
Winger joins up with squad for pre-season trip to Malta
Fulham winger Julian Gray has joined Sheffield United on trial, while goalkeeper Ian Bennett has signed a new deal with the club.
The 29-year-old will join the Blades squad for their pre-season trip to Malta next week eager to impress manager Kevin Blackwell.
Having made his name at Crystal Palace as a youngster Gray enjoyed three years at Birmingham before making his switch to Craven Cottage in summer 2009 after an initial season on loan.
First team opportunities were hard to come by last term with the former Coventry ace making just two substitute appearances in all competitions.
Gray was so dismayed by his lack of first team football that he reportedly spurned the offer of a new deal to stay with the Cottagers as he aims to make the Blades the seventh club of his career.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Bennett has penned a new one-year contract with the club albeit with extra responsibility.
The 37-year-old will join the Blades' coaching staff as of next season as well as continuing his playing duties.
"He has agreed a one-year extension to his contract and started his coaching path now," Blackwell told the club's official website.
"So in edition to being number two he will be working very closely with our goalkeepers in the development squad."

United eye Mifsud move
Striker available on free transfer Sheffield United are weighing up a move for Malta striker Michael Mifsud.
Mifsud is looking for a new club after seeing out his contract at Coventry.
The Blades are one of a number of clubs tracking the 28-year-old as he is an attractive proposition being available on a free transfer.
United have strong links with Malta and they could further strengthen them with a move for top striker Mifsud.
United are currently in Malta on a pre-season tour and Blades Executive Director Mike Farnan admits he plans talks with Mifsud's agent about a possible move to Bramall Lane.
"I have a meeting with Michael Mifsud and Carly Barnes (his representative) next week," Farnan told the Malta Times.

NO NO NO NO Gray and Misfud can fuck off!

Toffees cut deal for Blades' Kyle
Everton have been granted permission to speak to Sheffield United full-back Kyle Naughton after agreeing a reported £5million fee.
The Blades turned down a reported £3.5million offer from Everton last month, but have now agreed to an undisclosed fee for the 20-year-old full-back, who is currently with the rest of Kevin Blackwell's first-team squad on a pre-season trip to Malta.
The club's international chairman Terry Robinson said: "We have accepted a bid for Kyle, that's correct. The two clubs have been negotiating this last week and we have agreed terms with Everton, but nothing has been agreed with the player.
"We won't be revealing the amount until any deal is done and our acceptance is conditional on Kyle reaching agreement with them over personal terms. It's a good deal for the player and Sheffield United. We wouldn't have agreed to it if it wasn't a good deal for the club."
Sheffield-born Naughton, 20, who has been at Bramall Lane since he was eight, burst on to the first-team scene at the start of last season and quickly established himself as a regular in Blackwell's side.
He soon attracted the attention of several top flight clubs and won his first England Under-21s call-up - against the Czech Republic in November - after just 11 Blades appearances.

McIndoe's Blades move falls through
Michael McIndoe's proposed move to Sheffield United from Bristol City has fallen through, with the cash-strapped Blades 'pleading poverty'.
The Blades had agreed a fee with City, and terms with the player, but have seen the deal collapse due to financial difficulties.
Robins boss Gary Johnson has revealed his disappointment at the disruptive episode, but is delighted to see the midfielder staying at Ashton Gate.
"Sheffield United are pleading poverty a little bit and I think they need to bring some finances in," Johnson told the club's official website. "Michael feels he's waited long enough. We agreed a fee with them a long time ago, they asked us to wait and Macca to wait until they came back from Malta.
"Macca felt he needed to have an answer, yes or no, and it's a no.
"It was a bit out of order, in my opinion, keeping us and him waiting. They'd agreed a fee, and terms with the player.
"Macca called me and said 'whatever happens now I don't really want to go there'."
He added: "It's important we make it clear it was the two clubs who agreed the deal, the first Macca knew anything about it was when he was sent to Sheffield for talks.
"It wasn't him that wanted to leave the club. He's back with us, he's part our squad and he'll compete for a place like everyone else."

Prem pair in for Blades duo
Sky Sports News understands Everton and Tottenham Hotspur have made bids for Sheffield United duo Kyle Naughton and Kyle Walker.
Naughton appeared to be on his way to Goodison Park last week after the Blades accepted an offer from Everton for the full-back.
However, the England Under 21 international has also attracted the interest of Spurs, who are keen on Naughton's team-mate Walker.
Reports have claimed that Spurs' willingness to sign both Naughton and Walker has prompted the Toffees to change their offer.
It is understood that Everton are also now in the hunt for Walker and are ready to loan the 19-year-old back to the Blades.
Walker only made his Blades debut in January after impressing during a loan spell in League One with Northampton Town.
Naughton, meanwhile, broke into Kevin Blackwell's plans at the start of last term and was a regular at right-back as the club missed out on promotion to the Premier League.
------------------------------------
Naughton going would be best for everybody, but i'd be disappointed to lose both kyles.

Boston's Kirk given Blades trial Kirk began his career as a trainee at Scunthorpe United Boston United winger Tyrone Kirk has gone on trial at Championship side Sheffield United, less than three weeks after joining from Stamford.
Kirk, 23, signed a one-year deal with Boston but has yet to play for them.
Joint-manager Rob Scott told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "You can't deny him that opportunity but we'll get him in over the next few games and see where he is.
"The lads who have come in are probably ahead of him now so he needs to get on board for the new season."

Kilgallon set for Blades deal
Defender poised to pen four-year contract
Matt Kilgallon has revealed he is set to sign a new contract with Sheffield United.
Recent reports have suggested the defender is a summer target of a number of Premier League sides.
However, it is claimed Kilgallon will put pen-to-paper on a four-year Blades deal he has described as "the most important of my career".
The 25-year-old told the Sunday Mirror: "I anticipate that, anytime now, it will all be resolved."
Kilgallon joined the Blades from Leeds in 2007 and has since made 86 league appearances for the South Yorkshire club.

Blades boss mulls over trialists
Kevin Blackwell will decide this week whether to hand permanent deals to Sheffield United trialists Glen Little and Julian Gray.
Former Reading winger Little, released by Portsmouth earlier this summer, and Gray, who left Fulham in July, both played for most of the 2-0 friendly win over Chesterfield at Saltergate.
Blackwell said: "They have been a credit while with us and I expect to make a decision on them by the end of the week, but of course they will be the first to know.
"In any event I'm hopeful of bringing three or four players in very soon."
The Blades, for whom new signing Andy Taylor made his first appearance at left-back, ran out comfortable winners at the League Two side, with Leigh Bromby giving them a first-half lead and Jamie Ward converting a penalty against his former club after being hauled down in the area.

Blades to unveil Evans and others
Sheffield United will unveil Manchester City striker Ched Evans as their latest summer signing on Friday in a deal that could reach £3million.
The Blades have also confirmed they will be introducing other new additions to their squad at a press conference at the club's Shirecliffe academy headquarters.
United manager Kevin Blackwell has been chasing Evans all summer and the Blades had an initial bid of £1.5million turned down in June, but the two clubs have now agreed a reported fee that could rise to £3million depending on appearances for the 20-year-old Wales international.
Evans, a product of City's youth academy who has appeared six times for Wales, made his first-team debut for the Blues in September 2007 against Norwich, where he went on loan the following November until the end of the 2007/8 season.
Blackwell is also expected to confirm the signings of former Reading and Portsmouth midfielder Glen Little and Julian Gray, released by Fulham at the end of last season, who have both been on trial with the club.
