Lupoli signs for Ascoli
Viola swap striker in exchange for young midfielder
Fiorentina have announced that striker Arturo Lupoli has signed for Ascoli with midfielder Francesco Di Tacchio going the other way.
The 22-year-old was tipped to join Sheffield United this summer after spending the latter part of last season on loan at Bramall Lane.
However after a concrete offer from the Blades failed to materialise the former Arsenal youngster has decided to join Serie B side Ascoli.
The Italian was touted for big things when Arsene Wenger plucked him from Parma's youth academy, where he partnered Giuseppe Rossi, but after a number of disappointing loan spells the youngster seems to have lost his way slightly.
A move to Fiorentina in 2007 failed to come good and after temporary stays at Norwich and Sheffield United, the Viola have decided to let Lupoli leave in exchange for Di Tacchio.
Ascoli will be hoping Lupoli can help to revive their fortunes following a dismal season last time out, which saw them escape relegation to Italy's third tier by three points.

Thank God what a waste of money he'd have been....

Meanwhile the pursuit of Southampton midfielder Andrew Surman could reach a swift conclusion, because of Saints' financial crisis, both Wolves and Sheffield United are said to have made bids of £1m for the player.

Blades snap up Spanish starlet
Championship outfit Sheffield United have completed the signing of young Spanish central defender Carlos Pomares.
The 16-year-old arrives at Bramall Lane from Alboraya UD and will begin working with the Championship club's youth side.
Pomares operates as a central defender and caught the eye of Blades scouts after demonstrating much promise.
A statement on Alboraya UD's official website read: "The club wish the player and his family much luck ahead of his new adventure.
"We are sure more youngsters will follow his path in playing in England. We are very proud of Carlos."

Blackwell hoping for Killer stay
Blades boss Kevin Blackwell is "optimistic" that central defender Matthew Kilgallon will remain at Sheffield United next season.
The player's future is unclear with Wolves, Birmingham and Wigan all being linked with the centre-back.
The 24-year-old played 46 times for the Blades last season and was a key factor in their progress to the Championship play-off final and the club are keen for him to extend the three-and-a-half year contract he signed in January 2007.
Talks with the player and his agent stalled last week but Blackwell is confident the former Leeds United player will be at the club for the opening fixture against Middlesbrough.
The Blades manager told the Sheffield Star: "I have held preliminary talks with Matt and those negotiations will continue when I return from holiday next week.
"Of course I want him to stay, and I am optimistic that he will."

Your chairman/board appear to be taking a leaf out of Dave Allen's book by trying to appease fans I see
Putting in ridiculously low bids for players knowing they'll get rejected, but making it look like you've got lots of money to spend and are able to compete for good players
