Houvenaghel... good old british name that. Her husband is of old Dutch ancestry when the Spanish Catholics liked to persecute the Dutch estates( RMBB will know) a lot of Dutch settled here primarily around Suffolk & Kent. Thus endeth the lesson Rich. 400M the drug cheat bloke sadly made it. Whatever happens I sincerely hope she does not win a medal. I am praying she does not. Why she is here & Chambers was banned makes a mockery of the rules. Threatening to compete for Nigeria when she faced the prospect of not being allowed to compete here. Nicola Sanders a Wycombe High girl , a very good sports school in this area sadly did not paying for a season hit by in injury. Fancy losing the gold last year to a cheat. Lee McConell also failed to qualify. I think I saw Kwakye make the 100m final so good on her. Medals: Gold 11 Silver 6 Bronze 8

Andy Baddeley makes the final of the 1500m . Could he rekindle the glories of Coe,Cram & Ovett ? Kwakwe was last in the 100m final but is ever improving & is a good shot for 2012. In the high jump qualification all three men made it Parsons,Johnson & a passport of convenience Mason (I'm sure the Jamaican federation are pleased )who unfortunately did make it. Medals: Gold 11 Silver 6 Bronze 8

no I know. A drug cheat could win us a medal. Personally I won't be celebrating. I forgot where to meet the drug testers. Yeah right. Comes from nowhere in the rankings suddenly to compete in the 800m around 2006. Suspicious. Of course not.

are we third in the medal table? or has someone mis-informed me? We are third mort. It would be better if 3 points were awarded for goal 2 for silver & one for bronze as a nation with 1 gold ranks above that which might have 10 silvers & 10 bronzes. Considering we have half the number of competitors v-v China & the US we are doing extremely well. And we dont have 1.3BN people to choose from either.

The cycling team is awesome. Hoy and Kenny are into the semi-finals of the men's sprint and Pendleton into the semis for the women's. Brilliant. Team pursuit final coming up, GB vs Denmark. No question of split loyalties from me, come on GB! ;d

I think that puts us back in third in the medal table which is outstanding because we can't possibly be any higher. A small nation like ours will never beat 1 billion+ people in China or 350 million in the US so we can treat third as first for us really. Quite fantastic. I think while we support Britain we can support who ever is against Austrailia too to keep them behind us. If we stay in third place I couldn't be more proud of the country, Austrailia swept up in the swimming but I don't think they're as good at the athletics so hopefully that's a chance to keep them at bay. Just before that World Record race won by Great Britian ;D I was supporting New Zealand against Austrialia to prevent them from getting a bronze.
