Not to be sadly. They underperformed . A very emotional Emms bows out of badminton. Hopefully Robertson can link up with one of the younger female Brits & compete in 2012 & this time injury free. Better news in the pool Rebecca Adlington could become Team GBs iconic figure. OR in the 800m freestyle & looking ever so fresh too. Cassandra Patten also made it. Good news with Katy Ziegler out of the final.Looks good for gold.

Bradley Saunders is also out. Despite a late rally he could not outpoint his counter punching French opponent who he had thrashed last year in the Worlds at Chicago. news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympics_2004/boxing/7561469.stmIn the womens hockey GB beat NZ in a tight game.Crista Cullen the pen corner expert converting late on. news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympics/hockey/7560414.stmLooks like the swim, rowing & track cycling teams will provide the real medal hauls. Could be a golden weekend. Argentina & Germany top the group though so its still a tough ask.

Team GB looking good for a medal in the rowing. Denmark were powerful in the heat and the French just nicked second leaving GB to finish third. Should be a good final.
Phelps got his sixth Gold! Weeey

Indeed COYS . Sotherton settwo PBs in the 100m hurdles & 200m but struggled in the shot. However she cn still take silver. Blyonska is the surprise in the pack but its all very tight at present. In the 100m Pickering failed to make the semis despite a near season best but Tyrone Edgar did make it. Jenny Measdows & Marilyn Okoro made the 800m semis as well but Jenny Simpson was just run out of her heat. Womens 10k saw Pavey & Kate Reed struggled to make any impression. news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympics/athletics/7564070.stmWebb is very angry with the chef de athletics for making her run the night before a 2km course to prove her fitness. In our former blue riband event the 1.5k Tom Lancashire was badly run out but another brainbox in Team GB Andy Baddeley easily made the semis. news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympics/athletics/7562351.stmPhillipa Roles failed miserably in the womens discus (& she sure is butch ).No Briton qualified for the mens shot either. Helen Clitheroe did make the inaugural womens 3k steeplechase final after setting a British record. Roshine McGheddigan of Ireland also eased into the final with a rather comfortable looking run. The judo team contiued its disastrous campaign with the Karina Bryant sailing out of the 83kg class without a real fight. The archery team completed another discipline debacle Alan Wills coming unstucj 108-104 against his Cuban opponent. He then proceeded to lambast the Korean head coach of the UK team. news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympics/archery/7562457.stmIn sincerely hope both organising bodies get their acts together by 2012 & that UK Sport in its finite wisome does nto decide to cut funding on the basis of these very poor results. The disciplines expected to yield gold promise the best ever Olympics weekend for Team GB ever . The cyclists got off to a smashing start in the mens team sprint. Staff Kenny & Hoy doing the business. Wiggins & Burke sailed intot the last 8 of the mens individual pursuit & defending champion Rebecca Romeor & Wendy Houvenaghel qualified first & second in the womens pursuit. news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympics/cycling/7562884.stmIf we keep this up who knows ? Up to 10 yes 10 gold medals !! Salutarory news is that the place where Chris Hoy learned to track cycle at Meadowbank in Edinburgh will still be demolished. How can we develop talents for the future if facilities are not available ? It highlight the folly of pumping in reosurces to the Olympics whilst starving the grass roots. Rowing wise we have a record number of qualifiers. The mens lightweight double sculls of Purchase &Hunter and the mens lightweight fours made it .Sadly the womens lw double scull were wel beaten in qualification. And by 2012 I should think we will be a swimming power to reckon with. Halsall & Tait finished 8th & 6th in their finals of the freestyle & backstroke respectively but nontheless high;ights a record number of finalists for Swim GB. Lizzie Simmonds was comfortable in qualifying for the 200m backstroke. news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympics/swimming/7562420.stmBoth relay teams made their 4x100 medley finals and medals are a real possibility. David Davies qualified 5th overall for the 1500 freestyle but has better chances in the 10k open swim. On the sea Ainslie in the Finn is guaranteed silver & the Yngling girls (what a lovely trio of well brought up ladies) also have secured a bronze. news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympics/sailing/7559318.stmA brief run down of the results: news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympics/7504467.stmDisappointing start in the Tornado & Star classes but only one race gone & everything to play for. In the womens all around in the artistic field Becky Downie finished a respectable twelfth overall. The mens field hockey team saw well worked field goals inc. a lovely chipped finished from Jason Tindall secure a routine but staid 2-0 win over the Afrikaaners. However a win will be needed over Oz to secure a semi spot. Looks unlikely to be perfectly frank. news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympics/hockey/7563987.stmIn the individiual show jumping all the Team GB riders are handily placed led by old veterna Nik Skelton. All in all tomorrow & Sunday promise so much. Lets hope the promise is fulfilled & if it is this will be the best ever Olympics from Team GB & great preperation for 2012.

Gah, I wish I could've seen it, but my gosh. Well done Rebecca Adlington! Two golds, a world record, what an amazing, amazing feat!! ;d The rowing could be fairly good... she shattered that 800 record, was a thing of beauty. the announcers over here said that it was swimming's longest standing world record, set by Janet Evans of the United States in 1989.

I was shouting at the telly, like the commentators requested, I was jumping up and down, as was my mum. Brilliant from the rowers, absolutely brilliant! brilliant performance from the coxless fours. I thought they had left it too late but they powered through. Rebecca Adlington was awsome as well, won by a mile and destroyed the oldest world record in swimming. 2 more GOLDS

We also have the guarantee of a gold and the silver in the women's 3000m individual pursuit. Romero and Houvenaghel have also been amazing in this event. Just who'll get the gold, we shall see tomorrow! Cracking stuff!

Indeed Hannah. They were hundreths off of each other. A superb effort from young Burkie with the bronze which bodes well for 2012 & beyond & of course gold for Maestro Wiggins. news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympics/cycling/7564993.stmHoy & Edgar could get another double in the kiirin. No head butts allowed anymore .Would have made it more interesting. Newton got the bronze in the points just edged out of silver bythe big German Kluge on the last lap. Cycling GB are doing us proud.Rowing GB as well. Alan Campbell adter a season plgaued byinjury was 5th in ths ingle sculls. Olivia Williams & Louise Reeves 6th in the doubles. The Rumanians won their third Olympic gold in the event. Of course fabulous news for the coxless fours. The British blue riband event & two bronzes for Bebington & Laverick & I think they will be disappointed though. They could had they pushed earlier taken silver or even gold. And also Wells & Rowbotham were caught out by the Aussies early push & just edged out on the line for bronze. news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympics/rowing/7564988.stmNoticeably clearer & cleaner air above Beijing too. And what can you say about Adlington. news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympics/swimming/7564653.stmCassie Patten finished 8th in the final & will look for a medal in the 10k open water event. Becky has an open top bus ride guaranteed in Mansfield & is arguably our greatest ever swimmer with 2012 & 2016 to come. However the lovely Kelly Sotherton is not looking happy at all. 5th overall & her javelin throw 37.66 is another seasons best but leaves her out of the medals after a poor long jump.Julie Holliman is 28th currently Trackwise Jenny Meadows is out of the 800 . All of the 400 runners O Connell .Sanders & the drug cheat made it through. At sea we have to wait for the golds. The doldrums have hit Qingdao.
