Sorry mate but that’s bullshit. The Chili Peppers are incredibly varied, possibly the most varied band out there. Not two songs are similar, every single song is different, has different themes going on with it. Lyrics aren't the Chili Peppers' strongest points but the lyrics are consistently quite good rather than other good bands that have some songs with woeful lyrics and some with very good lyrics. I could name loads of pairs of Chili Peppers' songs that are polar opposites but still musically outstanding and on a whole awesome to listen to. The Red Hots have something for everyone and everything for many people. Plus they keep getting better and I think without any real doubt hold the title as the best Funk-Rock band ever. Having being around for 23 years and more popular now than ever as well as being the biggest band on the planet for the last 7 years. In the future Red Hot Chili Peppers could well be considered as the greatest band by many more than just the current avid fans. Dont get me wrong LL, i love the Chilis, but i agree with Shippers in that some of the B sides do sound similar! the lyrics they use do not seem to make any sense whatsoever! i partially agree with both of you! No mate they don't sound similar but if you really think they do then consider the fact that they are B-sides and they've recorded over 200 songs. "the lyrics they use do not seem to make any sense whatsoever!" You aren't listening properly then bobcat, the lyrics in I Could Have Lied, Otherside, This Velvet Glove, Transending, She Looks To Me, My Lovely Man, Knock Me Down, Green Heaven to name just a few, are well written, make sense, mean an awful lot and are very emotional. The lyrics are probably their weakest point but when you are competing against such incredible bass, drums, guitar and song writing, that is not very weak at all.

I watched the Chilis live yesterday, streamed over the internet, they were playing in Germany at Pinkpop, there was a Dutch TV channel broadcasting it. They played a mixture of old and new songs, about 50-50, all good, I want that when they come to Reading!

Oops. Looks like I'm on my own here!!! Thought James Brown was a Soul Man, not a funkster? But I shall bow down to concede defeat, especially as Shipps confirms that disco funk is unacceptable. how dare you utter such a thing (can one type an utterence?) JJ! Funk is awesome. How can one diparage the mighty James Brown, or Tower of Power? True the 'disco' type funk is not acceptable behaviour, but real funk is something beautiful. This guy is right about this. JJ you are crazy.

By the way Doyle the Tell Me Baby video has just been recorded so expect to see it some time in the next 2 weeks. Flea claims it's their best video yet.
