Christ - i picked up about 15 new rams last season (before getting banned off the derby boards) ;D

I've some ideas I'm mulling over (sorry Pastie for bring sensible topics of conversation to the corridors - I'll stand in the corner with my hands on my afterwards if deemed a suitable punishment).
One of which might appeal to those posters (existing and new) by having a "Football Debate" thread / board - and a footballing issue of the day or week is posted up by the Staff and pinned to ALL boards. Once the topic has died naturally - it's moved to the "Debate" thread. Only stipulation is NO personal abuse, no chit chat....simply comment on the issue, argue for or against..counter issues etc.
Certainly McClarens sacking and possible replacement would have been a great topic for discussion.
Another could be: -
"With the number of Football League clubs having gone through Administration or potentially knocking on its door (Leeds, Luton, possibly Cardiff, Coventry and Bournemouth) as well as being considered the "best league in the world" is the Premier league and it's money killing lower league football?"

First job of the mod / admin logging on would be to check the debate threads and simply delete the chit-chat and personal posts! Make the rule quite clear - members shouldn't have any objections when their post is zapped. Most of them are immature adults - and there are plenty of other threads to post bollocks and chit-chat on! |

I think mindless chat is good! Its just quite cliquey at times and probably not conducive to attracting new members/making them stay. Plus a large proportion of the fans from the 'big 3' just stick on their own board and will even talk about general things/other teams on there.

And have to say although when the FW site was created it created uproar. But then most of the chit-chat and banter was restricted to the chilled-out FW site with 606 becoming more sport orientated site. And although against at the time (personal issues) in hind-sight the 2 boards seemed to work as all the FW members were regulars from here and certainly the match-day, evening and night-time postings on here suffered no ill effects.

It could be said that this very thread falls into that category Maybe...all people have people they talk to more on the board which is fine. But for whatever reason, there are over 1000 members and enough of them have posted at a reasonable level at some point in the past to mean there should be a healthy number of active posters. But there aren't and (among other things) I think that everyone on here should make an extra effort to be more inclusive and talk to people they don't normally do, whether its about their team or whatever. |

Which comes back to your original statement about 'over cliqueness (?)' - and if you have a solution to that problem (or over-coming the initial shyness of new (and existing) posters to challenge the existing established 'strong' personalities) then please share. If it works I'm sure a career in politics will be open to you in the near future. |
