To Be Honest, the more I think about it I think Lucas has it all right. Blast off this rock and colonize another planet where only Funk, Love & Football shall rule supreme. Who's down with that!!! ;D YYYEEEEAAAAHHH!! I'm down with that!To the new world where funk is abundant and so are beautiful women. ;D

maybe a slight insensitive comment but:
if a nutter is shotting up anyone in his path, would you have though one of the people in his path would have risked physically stopping him.....?

It's easy to suggest it, but a lot harder to actually do it - staring down the barrel of a gun when you've watched them kill several other people can't exactly be a thrilling experience. Besides which, he apparently chained the doors shut to stop people getting out, which would make physical confrontation difficult...

i know what you mean but.... ...surely if there is a chance you can save others lives and possible even your own, you should take it?! Oh yes, you should, and I've no doubt lots of people would stand up and say they would - it'd be the right thing, the noble thing etc. The truth is human nature is both cowardly and selfish, and in that sort of situation your instinct is self-preservation first. It takes someone special - a true hero - to actually overcome that instinct and do something about it. That or someone who, to be quite frank, is somewhat mentally unhinged themselves.

It's one of those situations you just can't predict, no matter how often you think about it. The thing that scares me is I can far more easily see myself being on the other side of the gun...

Arnold Rimmer is basically the summary of human instinct; Ace Rimmer moreso the hero.
