Steve Coppell has already said that there will be no outside UK players brought in as they take time to adapt so he will bring in few players used to the pace of english game, one possibility is Bobby Zamora (2mill) another is Greg Halford (Colchester - 950, 000) but with Kitson slowly regaining fitness and Doyle tied down for few more years don't expect too much upfront. Sidwell will stay and sign new contract after impressive season so far, so the only real transfers likely will be full back cover, cen midfield cover and cen back cover

Greg Halford has signed for Reading in a £1.75 million deal. There will be an extra £250, 000 if they stay in the premiership. Reading are also close to signing Zamora for £2 million. Steve Sidwell will sign his new contract in a few days time. It will be anounced at the Reading home fixture against Sheffield United.

If we get those 2 I will be happy. That young icelandic guy we signed is meant to be really good and if we nab that defender from Sheffield Wednesday as well I think we will be sorted

Reading have handed a trial to Senegalese international Daniel Bocande.
The Metz midfielder played the full 90 minutes of a behind-closed-doors friendly against Charlton on Tuesday.
Bocande has played just once for the Ligue 2 leaders so far this season and will be hoping to make a keen impression on Steve Coppell at The Madejski Stadium.
Another player under Coppell's gaze is Cork City defender Alan Bennett.
The Irish club supplied both Kevin Doyle and Shane Long to Reading in 2005, and now director of football Nicky Hammond has confirmed the club have made an enquiry about Cork's latest prospect.
The former Republic of Ireland Under 21 international is one of the Eircom League's finest defenders and is valued at around £300,000.

Transfer latest
Coppell says the Club are working hard to bring in new players, but he is not desperate to add to our numbers just for the sake of it.
"There's been a lot of phone activity this week, as always. Nothing is close at the moment though, I can tell you.
"We're not going to smash anyone's door down with a huge bid. If we get players in then that's fine, but it's not the end of the world if we don't."
Steve was asked about continued speculation linking us with Greg Halford of Colchester, but he said, "I never talk about individuals when they are under contract.
"I know others leak stories but want to be judged by our standards. I never mention a name until the deal's done."
Daniel Bocamde
Frenchman Bocamde
Metz midfielder Daniel Bocamde, 23, played for our reserves in midweek, but Coppell said there is nothing to report.
"He's just Sonko's mate! He's staying with him, he's a player so he's been training with us."
The Royals' only other update on the transfer front this week was a confirmed inquiry about Cork City defender Alan Bennett.

Wait and see tomorrw eh Cav? Lets face it! We are Reading FC and we will only buy players on the cheap. I fear for next season coz other teams will spend big and we will not have the 1st season euphoria that we are benefiting from now. We need to start acting like a prem side and offer about £3m for Halford coz I think he is worth the money and will grow into a very good prem player.
