The new 06/07 championship season starts in just 5 minutes!!!! (yes I know for Derby and Southampton it's still 1 day but it's still damn soon) So use this thread to post your views as the start of the season draws ever closer. Tell us about your teams hopes and fears are. Predictions, increasing/decreasing squads, how long will your manager last, who will be you biggest rivals etc..... 5th of August is the date we are counting down to, I can almost smell it.

I'm not so optimistic! I think if we get off to a good start we can make the playoffs easily, but I doubt we can manage automatic promotion. If we start poorly (and I think we will because of the tough first few months, then we could struggle to make the playoffs, especially if Blackwell is sacked mid-season, we could be in turmoil. But if everything goes well, we should make the play-offs at least.

I'm not quite so optimistic now (because Hulse is going) as I was this morning (because of the news about Nicholls), but about as optimistic as I was about a week ago (no good signings).
These are the ups and downs of the pre-season. Document them here.

in a perfect world a winger and a centre midfielder but would settle for a central midfielder (more important), our defence is very strong - michael svenson back after 2 years plagued injuries, pele - new signing and thats to add to lundekvam, higginbotham, baird, bale and ostlund. kelvin davies is a good signing for goalie, and bartosz bialkoswki will be back soon (hot prospect) up front - ricardo fuller scored 6 in the last 6 games of last season, gregorz rasiak is a proven striker and we have some pace in the signing of bradley wright phillips. midfield we have andrew surman and nathan dyer making superb progress and in the centre jermaine wright will be strong, david prutton is now often recognised as a mad man but he is not just that but a great player and if he can remain free of injury, he will be good for us again we are linked to signing john viafara from pompey, which im not sure about id rather have richard chaplow or darren potter (both play on loan last season) and rudi scakel is still in talks apparently and would be a fantastic addition. i think without anymore signings we COULD make the play offs, but im almost certain we will buy 1 or 2 players and if we can make these good signings, good times beckon for saints, hopefully

and in the centre jermaine wright will be strong, *snigger* lol, i know he is nothing special but every time i saw him play he quietly got his head down and worked hard, he also brought some good physical presence when darren powell got injured v millwall, it was funny to see jermaine moved to right back fortunately we were only playing millwall though!
