Miley Cyrus should have been on Ross on friday night. I just bet he would've slipped some inappropriate joke in somewhere despite the fact she is 15. He cannot help it. In the right setting he is funny. Julian Clary fucked up and had to endure years in the showbiz wilderness. And brand is a talentless freak of nature. Like i am sorry your dad didn't pay you no attention. Now suck cock like the rent boy you are. Or is that wrong to say as his dad had fuck all to do with him?

Anybody else watch Newsnight?
I thought they had it spot on. Good comics sail close to the wind - they push boundaries and that is how things evolve and change. By definition, they sometimes cross the line.
I didn't listen at the time and am not either of the two people who complained when it was broadcast. I have listened to it in its entirety on YouTube and, frankly, was disappointed by how dull it was. It could at least have been clever - it was just puerile and childish, disappointingly lacking in artfulness - a shame as I actually rate both of them.
However, none of that justifies the tabloid driven moralising of the last couple of days. Slapped wrist, know your boundaries better and take great care to be funnier; that would be enough. From what I coudl see, Andrew Sachs would agree. A furore over disappointingly little and I'm with the others on here who long for the days of Chris Morris and something genuinely and dangerously outrageous.
No defence of either from me - it isn't worth it. However, before any of you doubt Russel Brand's qualities I recommend you read his weekly football column in the Guardian. Very, very good.

Well I've said my piece anyway. Whatever the rights and wrongs of Brand leaving his job he will easily find employment elsewhere.

Did you know that, as well as being comedians, Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross are also quite accomplished musicians? I heard them do an amazing duet on the "sachs-a-phone" the other day. In light of this week's furore, Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand will be placed on the Sachs offenders register. ;D groaaaannnnnnnnnnn

I can appreciate that I'm risking allegations of misogyny here, but am I the only one who watched the clips on the news last night of 'victim' Geraldine's exclusive interview with The Sun, and wondered just how tainted, devasted and betrayed she really felt? More to the point, is anyone out there willing to offer me good money saying that she won't be in Nuts or Zoo magazine - as well as The Sun - inside the next fortnight with her baps and arse on display, taking full advantage of her "horrific ordeal"? Or maybe the 'Satanic Sluts' member/Page 3 wannabee/confessed sexual partner of Russell Brand values her reputation and how people perceive her too preciously? Oh, and on final thing? Have rags like The Sun not sold thousands upon thousands of papers on the back of publishing stories and 'exposes' they've paid people for who've slept with Russell Brand, and felt happy to publicise the fact? Not that I'm suggesting any double standards here........

Reminds me of the Peep Show 'sectioning' show.
'If you section me Mark so help me I will section you!'
'He's gone mad! He thinks his legs are being controlled by a pigeon in Catalonia. You need to section him!'
'Ok guys, you've had your fun with the sectioning, there'll be no more sectioning today'
;D

Apparently his father was a womaniser who left porn all over his house, and consequently Brand adored him. ;D He and the stepdad had a healthy mutual disdain though.

I'm glad you're not a judge, trav. So where does the line of free speech and pushing the boundary sit? After all, we've got people who fight with a passion for the rights of Muslim clerics to be able to preach terrorism and murder in Hyde Park, yet two blokes make a misjudged and childish joke and they're condemned like murderers. People should get some perspective!!!

.....say when you persistantly start calling an old man, and leaving messages on his answering machine, as part of a crap joke on the radio....
....and none of thats got anything to do with freedom of speech.
