FFS, it's time for us to start acting like a Premiership club. Soel my turn out to be a decent player, but it's time we bought in the Premiership experience we need. But we're too scared to pay Premiership wages. We want a cheap wage bill, and this whole wage fisaco is showing our lack of ambition. Time to start acting like a Premiership club and show the ambition that will hopefully lead to survival.
Thankfully Sidwell doesn't have this buy out clause reported, but it's still sending a clear message. We're not going to spend the money required to stay up. Ah well, at least we won't be financially screwed when we come back down.

we also seem to be thinking more about just keeping him until his contract expires, so if he stays with us and we stay up, who knows what will happen then

guys it looks like we are about to sign him on a 18k a week contract, u shouldnt start splashing out on players with high wages cos if ya go down u will have to sell them all to make enuf money and cover new wage bill u should sign carefully in the first season and dont go mad, i've seen teams like notts forest go up spend loads go down again, sell half their players and are now rotting away in lower league(no offence meant here)

No disrespect but he is better than Charlton. These rumours were going round last summer and the summer before. His agent has got links with Charlton thats all.

i realise he is better than charlton but we are in there with man city and to be certain we are close to signing him but so are man city apparently today he agreed the 18k a week deal, just needs to be confirmed, may be press rumours but they are pretty strong and believably rumours, i mean nobody at either of the clubs have denied it have they...

Reading have neither denied or confirmed. Its just press speculation from a couple of tabloids.
The deal is if we match what he wants he would rather stay and has always said so. £18k is not a lot for a Prem wage these days.
We shall have to wait and see but I am hopeful.

Plus you have to remember there is no release clause in his contract as the papers say. We dont have to sell him.

3k a week more, that's all he wants to stay. Where's our supposed ambition? He openly stated that he'd rather stay if we match Charlton, so why aren't we? As for the rumour that he's soon to sign for Charlton, you're wrong. There is no release clause, and if we can't come to an agreement then our plan will be to keep him by force and persuade him to stay once we've stayed up. he is NOT going to Charlton.
