...... the lad is just showing ambition, you can't fault him for that!! Ah mid table mediocrity ;D ...... better than a relegation struggle though isn't!! Seriously, I think Maclean wanted a big fat contract. Laws wasn't prepared to do it as he's on a tight budget ........ so as usual it's all about the money. You as a club get no consideration, or loyalty, for the fact you stuck with him and looked after him when he was out for a nearly year!! ....... the money grabbing bastard!!

Oi! If we'd had him last year we *might* have won the league! Twas only having a smallish squad and only one decent striker that led to the slump? Sheffield Who'sday?!

I think there was some sell on clause from Rangers that caused the problem.

You've just off loaded him as you're gonna replace him with someone better.
Cardiff are buying Maclean to replace Chopra who is coming to Reading FC.

Tis a dark day Good luck big Stevie. You are a legend. Look after him Cardiff! *I hope this means that Billy's on his way* Surprised to see you describe Steve MacLean as a legend. I would have thought players like John Fantham, Redfearn Froggatt, Derek Dooley, maybe even Chris Waddle, and various others deserve the title of legend. But Steve MacLean? Good player - yes. But legend might be overstating it a bit.

He will always have a place in Wednesday's history No doubt a worthy player and a noble feat, but I just have a bit of trouble with him being awarded legendary status for scoring a penalty that won you the right to play second grade football. Probably a bit of a fault in my genetic makeup! I have this argument with Blades who want to bestow such status on players like Keith Edwards. I just think the term legend gets used a bit too easily. And I think players who have never proved themselves in the top grade have to do something quite extraordinary to deserve such status.

He scored 171 goals in 310 appearances for us, 17 of which were substitute appearances. He scored over 100 more goals for other clubs. If Steve MacLean were to manage twice the number of appearances Edwards did, I doubt he would get anywhere near his goal tally.

By the way, on a totally different subject. Have you seen any pictures of Hillsborough after the recent lovely weather! Your pitch is under about two feet of water at the moment.
