Sheffield Wednesday have agreed to sign Bradford City's Jamaican winger Jermaine Johnson - subject to an application for a work permit. The 26-year-old moved to Valley Parade last summer and scored four goals in 30 starts for the Bantams this term.
He previously had a two-year spell at Oldham, and scored in the 1-1 draw at Hillsborough in August 2004.
Johnson is waiting to finalise personal terms, although he will be suspended for his first two Wednesday matches.
The fee is expected to be in excess of the £250,000 bid Derby County had turned down earlier this month.
Johnson, who also enjoyed a two-month loan spell at Bolton in 2004, was understood to have had a figure written into his contract that allowed him to talk to other clubs.
So he's supposed to be fast but that's what they said when we signed Wade Small and he couldn't beat a man to save his life.

He's a good player but IMO there are better out there for that sort of money. He could be fantastic if you play him correctly, off the shoulder of a full back. He is very quick, he can cut inside and take players on as well. I also don't think he's ever been 100% fit whilst he's been here, but he seems to have the right motivation, so if Laws is as good as everyone says he is he could get a lot out of him. On the other hand, this is league one, which means it's only league one players he is beating, don't expect an end product to a brilliant run because there usually isn't one, he does have a tendency to get marked out of the game once teams know what he's about, if he gets frustrated don't expect him to track back, in fact better not expect him to track back at all, and he sometimes waits too long to get rid of the ball and ends up running into a defender. I'll be watching with interest because he could flourish or sink without a trace. Overall though I'd say it's better business for us than you, but then I would say that because we got him for nothing and we've just bought his replacement (who is keeping him out of the Jamaican national side at the moment). ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Good luck!
