Charlton have signed Algerian international Madjid Bougherra from Sheffield Wednesday for £2.5m.
The Owls had previously rejected a £1.3m offer for the central defender, who had a spell on loan with Crewe last season, making 12 appearances.
The 24-year-old has not missed a game this season after joining from French side Gueugnon in the summer.
Bougherra is manager Alan Pardew's third signing this month following the captures of Zheng Zhi and Ben Thatcher.

Good deal for the Owls. We've also got a performance and sell on clause. Will wonders never cease!

What I don't understand is Bougherra's attitude. He said if we didn't let him go to Charlton he would refuse to play for us. I could understand it if he'd been going to a big Premiership club but he's only going to be playing 12 mayches in the Prem and he'll be back down playing against us next season.

Some people are always looking for more though. I would imagine that he'll be on a lot more cash at the Valley. Also if he can play well in those 12 games then they might stay up. If not he's had a good 12 games in the Premiership, and someone else could come in for him. I've said before but there's no such thing as loyalty in football anymore!!

Maybe he's hoping to impress at Charlton and hope someone comes in for him in the summer - someone like Reading/Bolton somin like that?

Understandable but Everton were also offering him a contract so why not go to the club that has more chance of staying up?
