Met up with my mate in the dog and partridge all set for the night. Looking forward to it, could be dull, could be interesting. Will he get back in, wont he. Will the Hobsons, Ashton, Keyes etc be there.
The do was at the Cutlers (home of Mrs Hs wedding , i presume yours is in the grand hall to H? ). Ive not been before, very nice to. Its packed out so Ive gotta stand up and its bloody boiling.
Allen starts having a few childish digs as he does, telling us that Luggys wasn't good enough look at the results etc etc. To a point I agree, the style of football was terrible, i didn't enjoy watching it and his record wasn't actually that good. We literally sneaked promotion though he did well to take over from the mess Turner left. His signings haven't been to clever bar the odd master stroke, 1 who got us up (Kenwyne) and one who kept us up (Carson). Yes he had appalling look where injuries are concerned but i believe a change was needed and I'm enjoying going at the moment, its fun again and I'm off to Coventry for my first visit there on Saturday.
Anyways, back to the agm. Next up is Grierson to talk about the accounts. This man is to be frank crap. He couldn't answer a single question fired at him.
He was asked how much they have paid in legal action against the black balloon lot? Couldn't or wouldn't answer.
Asked how much we have made back by loaning out Graham to various clubs. Couldn't answer. Now as an account surely he should expect these kind of questions.
The main being how come a shed load of other clubs with a smaller fan base make more money than we do on the commercial front. He didn't really answer that either. Awful.
Next was basically a free for all. Joe Ashton gets up to sarcy remarks from Allen asking if that was really him after he phoned up Radio Sheffield under a different name (tit). He refereed to Yorkshire Post journos being banned from the ground and then threw an article from it at Allen as he "might learn something".
Next up Mr Keyes (Wednesdayite) i dint mind this bloke, clever fella. Spoke well, put some good points to them that the board rant doing enough to find investment and rant doing enough to make cash full stop. To be honest id agree, they dont want someone to take over, they make it to hard from people to come in.
A women got up, ordinary person, just a fan and not connected to the Hobsons or anyone. Obviously very upset about Luggy going. She spoke very very well, from the heart, she objected to being an undesirable just because of her beliefs (i agree with her, everyone has a right to their opinion, more so than Allen does). We pay more in to the club based on our income then he does as she rightly pointed out. he referred to her as "Duckie" for which he received rounds of boos and quite rightly.
They all had a go, Hobsons, Keyes, Ashton. I didn't think any of the questions were really answered and just went into petty arguments and name calling.
At one point Grierson brought up a failed business of Mr Keyes. Well out of order (id not said a word all night but felt compelled to shout twat and did).
Nothing really revealed other than what we already know other than Luggy wanted to put Lunt on the transfer list after the Barnsley game but didn't due to Whelans injury.
My thoughts. I agree with Allen on the playing front but unfortunately his personality doesn't endear you to him. Hes arrogant and childish, he feels he knows best and doesn't seem at all willing to listen to anyone particularly to those who he bares a childish grudge. This helps no one.
I voted for Allen to stay. I just think that it wont benefit anyone by getting him out now but i also voted from smaller shareholders to have a voice on the board and for them to accept Wednesdayites donations whether they have stipulations or not we cant afford to turn down a single penny when we don't make enough profit to even pay the interest on the debt
