In the word of Private Fraser we're doomed as if we didn't know that already a month ago.
AB has a lot of tough times ahead which will be the making or breaking of him.
The performance versus Liverpool was a waste of two hours. Its no surprise considering the turmoil behind the scenes.
The sacking of Hockaday who has worked with the likes of Young & Bouazza was unpleasant treating him as a scapegoat.ANB needs to look at the consequences of caving in to player pressure .
The transfer speculation over AY affected his performance. Marlon King has behaved unforgiveably like a complete prat much as GT did predict. He has not only let himself down but his wife & young child & a mentor of sorts in Aidy.
Personally despite all of his efforts on the behalf of the team I would not hesitate to see him transferred in the close season.Hes the sort of character we could do without & not as an aspirant role model for some of the really promising kids emerging from the Academy.
But not to dwell on our collective misfortunes.Aidy must sell AY now . £10M is ridiculous but would help us re build a team capable of regaining promotion in a very tough division.
AY is the equal of a Lennon for instance & in terms of dead ball delivery superior. He was never going to Spurs (SG et al) being a Gooner unfortunately. He may make the fringes of a future England team but he is still far too inconsistent.
Fortunately Youngs two smaller siblings seem to be following the same rate of progression as he did though the dream of seeing all three in the yellow at the same time is over.
The team needs some changes.OUT Doyley McNamee Blizzard.
We need to find a decent right back for a start.AB should try to hoover up some of the young talent like Sharp with a couple of experienced campaigners around them a figure like a Mackay.
Some of the kids like Parkes deserve their chance over Stewart. And please give Priskin a chance. The kid has real ability & creativity something we desperately lack.
In goal Lee & Loach (Eng u19) are capable. And the likes of Shittu & Smith are star performers at this level.
Off the pitch the academy will get more funds.I hope they put more money in to skills & situation coaches with the u10s for instance. Overall despite the gloomy nature of things at the moment who would not cherish the memories of that day in Cardiff ? We knew it would be a tough slog but we wouldn't have had it any other way.
We're still on the up.Everything in most facets is moving in the right direction. As Squire GB says the long term aim is to secure a long term stay in the top flight over the next 3-4 years.
This new TV deal however means that the already bloated ,greed obsessed elite will get ever richer at the expense of the so called lesser clubs & make it ever harder to maintain a toehold in the top flight.
