Mon, Dec 18 2006 Aidy Boothroyd has pledged to spend money in January and is still confident that Watford can maintain their Premiership status. The Hornets sunk to the foot of the table on 11 points - six adrift of the final position of safety - following Saturday's unfortunate 2-1 defeat at Newcastle in which they deserved at least a point at St James' Park. However Boothroyd, who is plotting to boost his numbers when the transfer window reopens in three weeks' time, has told his players to forget about the quality and valuation of players they come up against and think in terms of it being 11 versus 11. He said: "I feel like we can get out of trouble. We stopped a very good team playing and showed a lot of character to come back and impose ourselves on them. We're up against multi-million pound players who will punish you if you give them the chance. "I didn't tot up the comparative values of both sides because football is played on grass and it's 11 men against 11 men. If I wanted to do that, I'd probably need to get myself a calculator." He added: "In order to win you need to have depth and quality in each position and we don't have that yet but we'll address that in January when I will add to the squad."
All very good but who would want to come to a club thats bottom of the league ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png) Will be interesting to see who Aidy can attract on loan and who we sign.
