Got yourself a cheap player there lads, and a player that is massively better than when he left you a few years ago! Good luck to him, he always gave Derby 100%, but you could tell he was unsettled this season. Hope he keeps you lot up so you can pay us some more money for him!

He will offer competition for us as we now have 2 players in basically every position, he ain't a goalscorer, we know that, but his pace and skill should help make him a threat and he should create a good few goals.
After his comments when he left us for Sunderland, it shall be interesting to see how he is received when he makes his second 'debut', possibly at Bolton on Saturday.
I personally think that should be left in the past and he has all my support as any Watford player gets, but he has something to prove with us I feel, hopefully Boothy can get the best out of him.

Hmm I think it's not a good signing, he's a lightweight and un proven in both championship and top flight. We need a Hesky type up front not this little shit. I'm sorry but I think it' a panic buy. this means look forward to Watford Winning 8-0 with him scoring 6

Trust me...£500K on him is not a panic buy - its a very shrewd bit of business!!

I don't think he's the type of player we should have been targetting if we're gonna stay up tbh Gres, but I hope he proves me wrong.
And Akinbiyi is just Trevor Benjamin in disguise, I DO NOT WANT THIS MAN AT MY CLUB!!!
woo 8k is in sight lol

Tommy Smith ah the name smacks of the time when footballers were footballers & not nancy boys. Oh its the wrong one. I still remember his comments about wanting to move to a bigger club & how Watford really wasnt a football town(when you compare it to Derby then I can understand). I guess we wont boo him this time round. He has improved as a player he has pace & a fair degree of trickery & not a bad scoring rate from midfield.I think AB is looking for some more invention in the final third & Tommy can do that. He still has the potential to become a top flight professional. And also regarding Blizzard. He isnt exactly a Steve Palmer but why Hereford. If they want him to get some decent experiencef & match fitness surely there must have been a club in division 2 ie Colchester or division 3 like a Huddersfield that could have done with him. I reckon hes for the boot in the summer.Another mildly promising youngster going to waste a la Jamie Hand.

Like I said previously ovechkin8, I still think TS has to prove himself again.
Agree with Blizzard, hopefully it's only up until Jan, then he can step up a league.

Boothroyd glee at Smith deal
Aidy Boothroyd has hailed Watford's capture of Tommy Smith and believes he fits the profile for the players he has been looking to bring in.
The Hornets were quiet on transfer deadline day with the capture of Smith earlier in the week the only business done in the final weeks of the transfer window. Boothroyd has always maintained he would not panic buy and he has stuck to those principles by bringing in a player who clearly wants to play for the Hornets, and gives the club options across the attacking line.
"Tommy fits our culture - an attacking player who is athletic and quick and with a point to prove. He is a terrific signing for us," Boothroyd told the club's website.
One outgoing on transfer deadline day saw highly-rated young striker Joel Grant join Aldershot on loan.
