Premiership new boys Watford have offered a trial to Hungary international Tamas Priskin according to reports from the player's homeland.
The 19-year-old striker has shown plenty of promise in the early stages of his career having bagged a respectable 11 goals last season for his club Gyori ETO.
Watford are known to be in the market for fresh faces and working on a limited budget, Hornets boss Adrian Boothroyd is likely to have to scour foreign shores for new talent.
It has been suggested that Priskin will spend time at Vicarage Road at the end of July as he seeks to earn a permanent stay in England.
Priskin has already attracted the attention of his national side having made his debut against Argentina in 2005, going on to win a further two caps thus far.
Bundesliga second tier outfit Cologne, relegated last season, are also thought to be monitoring the player's situation closely as they look for a replacement for Lukas Podolski, who has quit the club for Bayern Munich.
Sounds alright...

Also we have tabled a bid for Lu*on's winger Carlos Edwards. No fee has been revealed, and Lu*on boss Newell is considering the offer! I've said before that he's looked a tasty player, and he could be just what we need, despite being a hatter!

Haha at last welcome aboard Senor Edwards.Bye bye mediocrity. As for Priskin Koln could be a nuisance.I expect they will do their yo-yo trip again & ofr Mr.Priskin its just across the border. I do believe that he played in the game where Messi had his first Argentinian cap & was sent off almost immediately. We were that close to getting Messi on loan this season !! Ah one can only dream. And his even better compatriot Aguero. I guess of the other targets one is still Shittu. So that leaves just 1 mystery player to be announced as it were.

And I hope it ain't Carl bloody Cort tbh, we should be able to get better strikers than him! I am very doubtful the Priskin transfer will materialise into anything.

You're dead right about Cort GB.He lost his hunger for the game as soon as he left Wimbledon. I dont see how he could fit in at the Vic. It would be a waste of money in terms of wages & denying say Francino Francis his chance. Cort also lacks mobility. You wont see him doing Kings running off the ball. AB did say the European scouts had been looking hard prior to the playoff win. I just guess that players even at the European clubs have had transfer fees inflated knowing we're in the money. If we stay up the situation will only get better.Players look at us & think we are a surefire relegation certainity so dont come to us choosing a safer lifeboat like Fulham ?? Anyway 17th will do for us.Hope Ellis remains with O'Leary at the Villa .Such strife can only be good for us.

Well GB he did come from the Os originally & as hes 19 I dont think we 'll even get a brass farthing. Apparently the Academy staff didnt think he'd make it which makes you wonder is their judgement better than that of the Woolwich mob ? The compensation agreements currently in place always conspire against so called smaller teams. Its a cartel thing. The rich get richer the poor get poorer. Its killing football & has been doing so for a decade or more. Well I trust the academy staff well enough to accept their judgement. Although, if he goes on to play for England it would be a pisser! Same old story isn't it As for Jobi McAnuff SE, I haven't heard anything tbh, it may just be pure rumours. He's a left winger isn't he?? No. He is a right winger and apparently the bid is now £2m which I would bite your hand off for ;D

Whose offering 2 million us or Bolton ? Bit pricey if you ask me.
Sad news O'Leary isn't staying at the Villa to guide them to the Championship. No hard feelings but I think we'll need all the help we can get this season.

2 millions quid? He ain't worth that for shit! Hope AB pulls out of this one! Hopefully Villa will apoint a manager of equally poor standards, and they'll get relegated leaving us to take 17th spot ;D

First of all have a nice holiday in baking hot Greece GB. Internazionale wont be fielding their front line players but it will be nice to see Solari for instance live. More rumours in the papers.2M pounds for Collins John. This has to be a made up story .First its HH now its him. Fulham need all the strikers they can get. And also Routledge at 2.5M as Spurs dont think he fits the bill. Again its Charlton who are also interested. As a Palace boy I think hed'd prefer to come to us but mercenaries being what they are I dont think so.Plus hes overpriced AGAIN .....

Why thankyou, they better screen the matches in the local bar's, or I'll probably be a sunburnt and pissed off GB! Re possible transfers: I'd rather have Routledge than McAnuff, but I can't see Boothy paying over the odds. Saw an article on teamtalk today...will post in a sec

Adie sets sights higher than 17th Watford manager Adrian Boothroyd has claimed simply avoiding relegation from the Premiership would represent a bad season for his club.
The Hornets are strongly tipped to make an immediate return to the Championship following their surprise promotion via the play-offs in May.
Most supporters of the club would see a 17th-place finish in the top flight as a triumph for the club - but the 35-year-old Boothroyd, one of the most highly-rated managers in the country, is setting his sights far higher.
"[Finishing fourth-bottom] would not be a success," Boothroyd said. "It would be avoiding failure, and there is no success in avoiding failure.
"That's probably an outlandish comment, but I will not be happy if that's the case. I want us to be better than that and aim higher than that. You have to."
Boothroyd has made just two signings so far this summer - former England defender Chris Powell on a free transfer from Charlton, and midfielder Damien Francis, who cost £1.5million from Wigan.
He revealed he wants to sign three more players, with a right-winger, a centre-back and a forward believed to be the positions Boothroyd believes require strengthening.
The Hornets are keen to land Jobi McAnuff, whom they are understood to prefer to Carlos Edwards of Luton, from Crystal Palace for the right-wing berth, and are understood to be interested in Fulham striker Collins John and West Brom forward Nathan Ellington.
The £3million price tag on QPR centre-back Dan Shittu could prove prohibitive, though, for the Hornets who also hope to be able to bring back goalkeeper Ben Foster from Manchester United for a second season-long loan.
But any deal for Foster would depend on whether United, who have seen their attempts to sign West Brom stopper Tomasz Kuszczak rebuffed, can sign a back-up goalkeeper before the transfer window closes on August 31.
Boothroyd continued: "It is a concern I haven't managed to bring in the three players I want, but it hasn't reached the point where I'm afraid.
"I wanted everyone in place by July 17. I have two in, which is great, and three have bubbled along since May.
"It won't be until August when people really start making moves. We just need these three pieces to make sure that we are right."
Boothroyd also revealed he had sought the advice of two of the managers who succeeded against the odds in the Premiership last term.
Both Wigan and West Ham were expected to struggle, but both - under the guidance of Paul Jewell and Alan Pardew respectively - achieved top-half finishes, while Pardew's team were beaten only on penalties by Liverpool in the FA Cup final.
Boothroyd added: "I spoke to Paul Jewell and Alan Pardew about what they did, and I'll continue to [speak to people like them].
"They've been very helpful. I've never had anyone put the phone down on me. If you're willing to ask questions, you find the majority of people are very accommodating and will give you advice.
"We look at Bolton, Charlton, Wigan and West Ham - there are lots of teams we can use as a benchmark.
"In Europe, there is Deportivo La Coruna, FC Porto and Bayer Leverkusen.
"These are small clubs whom people think have no right to be as successful as they have been, but there's a reason for it.
"We want to be that small club that keeps growing and getting better."

I believe it's at the stage where we either up our offer or pull out.
Have had reported interest in Tottenham's Wayne Routledge aswell as Palace's McAnuff...I'd like Routledge, even it was on a season loan. Wait an see.

Priskin news:
The 19-year-old has been training with the Hornets recently and has impressed manager Adrian Boothroyd, who told the Watford Observer a deal is hopefully, imminent.
"We are in the process of making sure he becomes a Watford player," Boothroyd said of the striker. "I've been very pleased with him and he's done very well.
“He offers us something that we don't have in that age group and he'll make us a better club all round. I'm trying to build the medium and long term future of the club and Tamas is part of that."

Its a done deal GB.I tried to read the Hungarian press t/l & his club Gyor are quite happy with the contract & transfer fee. Theres another of his teamates Adam Dudas 20 who is also on trial at Arsenal. Perhaps Tamas might get him on board too if hes any good.

I have been hearing different fee's mentioned, do you know how much he cost ovechkin8? Him & Barrett will have a good chance to show what they are worth tonight. Also, I know nothing has been mentioned about the possible loan signing of Walcott for a while, below is basically confirmation we won't get him...taken from the Arsenal site: Wenger - Theo Walcott won't fill Watford gapBy Richard Clarke Theo Walcott is not joining Watford on loan. The 17-year-old winger is yet to appear in the Arsenal first team after his high-profile move from Southampton last season. But he will not be making his Premiership debut for the newly-promoted side. Ahead of tonight’s Champions League tie in Zagreb, Wenger was asked about reports in the London press of a temporary move. The manager simply laughed off these suggestions adding: “They have a lot of imagination in London.”
London?

The Prisken deal is everywhere, but theres no comfirmation of the fee, I wonder if it was a million or £125k + installments, I have seen these two reported fee's floating about - not sure which one to believe. Looks to be a good addition anyway, just need a winger and possibly another striker now...

Luton Town midfielder Carlos Edwards admits he still hopes for a move to Watford. The 27 year-old told the Trinidad Express: "I am happy to be at Luton at the moment. Most players think the quickest way to force a move is to stick in a transfer request, but I am not thinking that way. It would be unfair to my club and I am happy with them. I would like a move to the Premiership but I have already started the season and opened my account too.
"If I do leave for Watford, a few harsh words may be coming my way. But in football you are always going to make some people happy and some unhappy.
"I have to look out for myself at the end of the day because it is a short career. If Watford want me and Luton say 'Carlos, it is time for you to go', I will take the opportunity with both hands."
