Rams confirm Yorke interest Derby have confirmed they are interested in signing former Manchester United star Dwight Yorke.
Yorke is currently playing for Sydney FC in the Australian A-League, but is thought be keen on a move to England.
The 34-year-old is aiming to return to England so that he can prepare for this summer's World Cup finals with Trinidad & Tobago.
The Australian A-League season ends on March 5 and should Sydney not reach the final Yorke is hoping they will let him leave.
Derby are in the market for a new striker as they battle to avoid relegation and Rams caretaker boss Terry Westley admits they will consider a move for Yorke.
"Dwight Yorke has been offered to us and he has been spoken about," Westley told the Derby Evening Telegraph.
"A player like that is obviously someone you do look at because he's played at the top level in this country and can certainly play at Championship level.
"He needs to keep himself fit for the World Cup. He's not due back for a couple of weeks yet because he's finishing his obligations in Australia.
"We could be speaking to his people about coming back because he wants to play in this country before the World Cup so it could be one of those we follow up."

He was a quality striker in his day but I think he has lost a yard or two on pace but he can still bang em in which is what Derby need

I dont think Yorke can be assed anymore. He never tried at Blackburn and he would probably expect a big wage at Derby crippling them even more.
He was a quality striker back in his day tho

I think he would try though seeing as he wants to be fit and ready for the WC. You make a good point about the wages though, especially in Derby's current financial situation

But he would also want to avoid getting injured so any 50/50 balls will always be won by the defender. There would be no real commitment to the club.

Thats the trouble with a world cup year alot of players stop playing as well if their defo in the team so they can shine in the World Cup I can understand it I'd be pissed off if I missed the World cup through Injury and ended up next to Le Saux on the BBC pundit panel just doesn't bare thinking about

Have heard today that we are trying to get Andy Gray on loan from Sunderland (NO....not Andy gray on loan from sky sports!!!)
He's had an awful season, but did well last year with sheff utd, so might be a good shout!!
Surely he cant be even less prolific than Danny 'work my socks off but couldnt hit a barn door with a banjo' Graham!!

What about Andy Gray of Palace. He was quality. Andy Gray ex of Everton will forever be known as the cheat who bundled Steve Sherwood illegally into the net for the goal that never was in 1984.
