The resident Tractor highlighed the fact that subboards can be made private and thought it would be an idea for the quizzes board to be made private, therefore you can not view the board unless you are signed in. I thought that this was a good idea and have PMed the suggestion to a staff member. I just wondered if you all thought it was a good idea?

Just about every question has been asked/answered on there already so i cannot see what difference it would make.
But i am one cog in the wheel, see what others think.

why does it have to be private? sometimes i do read threads without logging on I'd imagine it's so only members can read it and not any randoms who've found their way to the site.

Making it private would also stop the results coming up in search engines, which'd protect members' privacy somewhat (e.g. if they get someone "interested" in them, for instance). Also, as Pete said, it'd stop just anyone being able to come along and have a nose round.
That said, though, if there's something you don't wanna let the world know about, you shouldn't put it in the public domain anyway, IMO - but then I should think that's common sense that everyone on here shares anyway.

Doesn't stop any old perv/weirdo signing on to view such material. I have nothing against Katie at all but it seems strange that after a couple of years of bearing her soul on here she now wants it kept private.

I know it doesn't stop people signing up, but as I said, it at least keeps the search engines at bay. Again, though, I hold the stance that if you don't want people to know, you shouldn't say it!

I agree with all points stated, but making the board private will help prevent searches on it. Also, the likelihood of a weirdo finding this particular site without that particular board in the search engine would be dramatically reduced. Therefore, in summary, making the board private reduces the chances of a weirdo finding that particular board, to even consider signing up on the site. PS. That may not make sense as i'm tired.

As much as I can see peeps' points about privacy, this is a public domain, whether we make it a private board or not, we will still get anyone signing up to this place.. If you're worried about privacy, don't post it on here. Sorry if that sounds harsh but if this place were to be made private, we won't get new peeps signing up and it'll end up going very, very stale - If it hasn't already, before anyone says it

It's not that I have a problem with it because if things i don't want people knowing i haven't posted in quizzes just thought it may have been a good idea.
And i didn't mean the WHOLE board just the quizzes sub board
