They aren't right Can't say as I'm an expert on colours, but those are definitely used in Japanese. Whether or not they're the common terms is another matter, mind... What would you suggest for them? akai, aoi, midori(no), kiroi.

Can't say as I'm an expert on colours, but those are definitely used in Japanese. Whether or not they're the common terms is another matter, mind... What would you suggest for them? akai, aoi, midori(no), kiroi. Aka and akai, I'd call a tie on, as I would aoi and kon (aoi can be blue, green or blue-green, whereas kon is navy blue). Midori is translated in both places I've looked at as 'greenery' though, whereas ao is 'blue, green, green light' - it strikes me that 'green' isn't a colour they planned for particularly well; I just went with what I felt was best there. 'Ki' and 'Kiroi' are both listed as common terms for 'yellow' too, so I guess we'll have to call it a draw overall! (Nice knowing translation hassle goes both ways, eh? )
