I think your wrong where Christian are concerned, as I sure as hell was taught about this in RE. The Jewish faith and Christian faith are extremely similar in teachings and beliefs Well there's something in what you say there Hurls. Neko - who are these "shit-loads" of people who deny the Holocaust?! I was of the happy presumption that very few people other than David Irving and a handful of brain-dead fascists claimed it didn't happen? In fact I gather that many of said brain-dead fascists celebrate that act of evil - so I ask again - who are these "shit-loads" of holocaust deniers?! I can't give names, obviously (any more than anyone here could present a list of muslim holocaust deniers) but there are whole "Christian" sects that include holocaust denial in their teachings, as well as numerous Nazi groups. Granted, shit-loads was the wrong term, but certainly there's far more than there should be - at any rate, my point is they're not all muslims!

Sorry, had to stick my head in - in America, as far as I know, (I can't see the future, after all ), we'll always teach about the Holocaust. In fact, as with most subject matter in schools, if it offends/etc, parents/guardians can give a note to the teacher/administrators, and the child can be sent to the library/etc for independent study during that particular class~ That way, the education of all isn't compromised for the sake of one student *flees back to her hide-y corner* Hey come back, I for one only posted what I recieved so accept that I've been a bit of an arse. Sorry on that front! But as I said to Neko it does bring out interesting descours!

I could provide you with a list of prominent Muslims who deny the Holocaust, but I'd have to research it - I'm not good with remembering these guys' names! I imagine that these Christian sects are tied into wider fascist politics and ideals, and may be based in a certain large country - the sort of people Louis Theroux met for example? Your point, however poorly made, stands then!

Nah, don't worry, you weren't being a bit of an arse - I've just been listening to loads of American bashing recently, so I'm a bit touchy on the subject (I lurk because I generally don't post on message boards, too :3 Get my random opinion in once a month or so, and I'm set ;D) But, yeah, it does. I honestly don't think that it'd be taken out of any sort of curriculum, though - at least, in the US or the UK (though I only say the latter because of that article, I can't really say I know the system over here otherwise!) - 'cause it really is an important point in history, regardless of the silly few who think it's a fake~ Wasn't there that one guy in the news...it was last year, I think, who claimed it was fake. Big fuss over him, think he went to jail or something, (don't quote me on that)...can't remember what his name was, though

He claims to be an historian but most dismiss him as a dangerous fraud. He makes a living these days mostly from protesting for the right to free speech - and his existence is a major reason for my admittedly authoritarian views against the freedom to express hateful lies.

Ahh, right. I just remember reading an article about him and thinking, "What a stupid man." ...probably among other things, but I can't quite remember

I do think it's bad tha certin people try to pretend something like this didn't happen all the same.

I don't get how people can even say it, what with all the proof that it did happen. Stupid people... (I usually do ignore it, there's just been far more of it recently within my usual circles than I'm used to~) (Edit: ...oh, yay, my 400th post! Only took me over a year! ;D )

Ahh, right. I just remember reading an article about him and thinking, "What a stupid man." ...probably among other things, but I can't quite remember Indeed! Of course, the usual argument in favour of letting him speak is that most people with any sense will hear and think "what a stupid man" - which is great! However, it only takes a few to be suckered in and you could have a movement on your hands. Still, I'm in danger of stepping on my soapbox again huh?!

Soapboxes are fun But, meh, regardless of the few, the loud, and the stupid getting together, I think the Holocaust is one of those topics that won't get kicked under the rug to placate them~ (At least, I hope so. You never know these days...)
