news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/west_yorkshire/7163696.stmIt brings a tear to the eye just seeing that face & having a nephew of the same age makes it easier to empathise with the feelings of despair & loss the family must be feeling. There are certain breeds that seem involved continually in maulings or are trained to be used as attack dogs. Surely its time to see pit bulls & rottweilers & tosas put on the banned breeds list ? Just to safeguard future lives. These dogs have unpredictable & violent characters. Shocking.

It is shocking but i know of plenty of people who have such dogs and families and have never had any grief - i think its to do with how they are trained and brought up!
Tragic news though!!

It happened around this time last year too didn't it. To a little girl, if I recall.
Not sure why anyone would want a rottweiler/pitbull etc as a pet anway...

I had a lovely placid dog when i was younger but he marked my sister and brothers faces when they tried to take a bone off him not realising.

Mr Payne said one of the boy's aunts, aged 16, was caring for him and her two sisters, aged six and seven, in the house.
The 16-year-old girl was upstairs when the seven-year-old carried the baby outside to stroke the dog. says it all really - it always happens when people are not looking after the children properly?? Leaving a baby with a 16 year old aunt along with 2 further kids under the age of 10 is a bit harsh anyway - but to leave the toddlers with the baby is just stupid!! they were at the Grandparents house - its so similar to the one last year its almost unbelievable??

Isn't this like Deja Vous because that little girl was killed on New Year's Day by a Staffie when her Grandmother was high as a kite??

Shouldn't ban the dogs - just have some sort of test beforehand to make sure the owner's actually capable of looking after them. Some breeds are more pre-disposed to being short-tempered, but it's mostly to do with how they're raised. Human stupidity/neglect accounts for the incident a lot of the time anyway, as Gres observed.
