I was watching a documentary the other night about how people are attracted to each other and it said on it that men are not attracted to a woman with a good sense of humour. For woman this is high on the list but men feel threatened by a funny woman. I've asked most of my male friends about this and they agree. I was flabergasted. IS this really the case?

Can't say as that's the case for me Frankly, I love it when girls are just as funny as the guys, 'cause it's nice to see the jokes coming from both sides, as it were (especially when you get onto "Bloody men/women" debates). Maybe those guys are just insecure? ;D

Well I believe men are initially attracted by look, and then find out what the person is like and if they're funny witty etc., its a bonus and the relationship will continue. Now you'll all call me shallow for this, but I wouldn't approach someone I don't feel attracted to. And if I got to know someone who's funny etc., they'd just be my friend no more

Maybe those guys are just insecure? ;D Apparently it's imascualting (sp?) when a woman is funnier than a man?? Honestly, I think it's a security thing. I think you're right there - some (most?) men for some reason find it embarrassing to be outdone by "a girl" (playground mentalities here, people!). I've just never found it to be a problem - if a girl outdoes me, fair play to her, she beat me. What's the issue? Could well be I'm one of the odd ones out there - I've never felt much of a need to prove my 'manliness', I know I'm not the manliest of men, and the whole machoism thing bores me. That said, I'm rarely a good example in these sorts of areas - my concept of gender roles has always been loose at the best of times!

And if I got to know someone who's funny etc., they'd just be my friend no more I think they're entirely fair comments, in truth. Certainly, men tend to be more concerned about physical looks than men (if we believe women's magazine reader surveys!), and let's face it, if there's no attraction, why would you approach them? I think Hurls speaks as a more typical male case here.

I'm the same - with one exception, all my relationships have started out as friends, and we've gradually warmed to each other.

You may be surprised by this but i am attracted to girls who have a good sense of humour and a good head on their shoulders. Honesty, intergrity and intellegence come before looks with me. You see a fit lass and you are drawn to her, this is only because you want to bonk her rigid. You get to know her and realise she is a wetneck and the illusion is shattered. I also don't like really slim girls either. Nor plumpers but with a bit of room in the boot.

Right off to go and vomit in a meeting. Keep leaving your thoughts on here though. I'm really interested in what you think about this subject.
