But during the 30 weeks holidays students get ;D surely they return home (cost of mortgage, electricity, rates, food etc.) if only to get their washing done The cost of the mortgage doesn't increase because I go home for 4 weeks But yes, amongst others.. the food mainly. Mum pays for a shop every time I see her! I do all my own washing thanks! Til I go home.. ;d Not having a 'dig' Spozz But from a parent's perspective from age 0 to whatever age their kids 'fly the nest' (I left home at when I was 27 - £200 a month rent was a bargain ;D) if you have kids you need a larger property. BUT - that's the parent's fault - so not apportioning blame at the children's feet. Amazes me though with the figure quoted! All these chavettes dropping sprogs left right and centre, then sponging off the state. Just wondering how much my tax bill could be lowered if the social security burberry brigade had had a better social upbringing (yes I blame parents)!

I know Heh, well my mum doesn't earn a lot, in fact, very little so I got a pretty big grant.. Still gotta use the money I earned though; my parents do help me out but it's not all them.

I know Heh, well my mum doesn't earn a lot, in fact, very little so I got a pretty big grant.. Still gotta use the money I earned though; my parents do help me out but it's not all them. I'll be honest...."Many years ago....(we're talking black and white scenario) my dad had high hopes for me. University was the banker (I wanted to do Bio-Chemistry or Chemical Engineering) and I was going to be first member of the family to attend Uni. However, the grants, student support at the time were laughable especially as both my parents worked and so my going to Uni would have beggared them. Besides, I liked money (most of it spent watching Leeds all over England and beer) so when a job opportunity arose I took it. Fully supported by my mum - my dad treated me as an outcast (till my first salary when I was able to say "fancy a pint pops - I'm paying"). Took him a few years - but he came round to the fact (think he was well pissed off though when Si dropped out of school at the same age as me and followed me in the same career path) ;D
