Just heard this on the news, now I don't have kids, but I know they are expensive, but for goodness sake some people don't help themselves! This mum has just been on saying that her 5 year old "has to have the latest trainers"!!! HE'S 5 YEARS OLD!!!! ?? Sorry but he does not "have to have" anything!

Sorry but it's the parents that are at fault not the kids ! !

Think the 'cost' of raising a child today (per The Sun) has increased to £186,000!
Fooking hell!!!!
But do the little sods appreciate it? Still try to bleed you dry whilst going through University and then when they're earning themselves still expect help with getting deposits for houses and daughters expect the 'weddings of the century'!

It's birth to 21 over year (having re-checked the paper - then my bank statement (dreamt of ££££££))
Guess that covers the University fees too then!
Only trouble is the report indicates that the cost will rise by a further 42% by 2012.

And don't even get me started on What Medical School or a Masters Degree would cost you - at the point your tripling the number. Better start saving your pennies now all you youngsters on here!!!

Mum pays for a shop every time I see her! I do all my own washing thanks! Til I go home.. ;d

I've told my kids (a bit like my old chap told me) "I've worked bloody hard since I was 17 to get where I am now - and whilst me and your mum will support you in whatever career path you choose we ain't got bottomless wallets so you've gotta learn to support yourselves. Besides - you bleed us dry it'll be you who will be supporting us in our retirements (if you want an inheritance that is). I plan on finishing work at 54 or 55 years old so the marker is down"
