Religion is a very personal tenet...you should avoid the wrath of god. Please close this thread soonest....remember what happened to Dave Allen when he fell out with the Catholic Church I just tried looking Dave Allen up on wikipedia, and it came up with about 30 matches on the 'disambiguation' page... Which one d'ya mean? Sorry mate...Dave Allen was a well known irish comedian in the 60's and 70's and a staunch catholic he used to end his shows with " may you god go with you"

That doesn't sound so terrible to me...

Lets see who you turn to when you get really desperate I will only and ever turn to my family or myself if I ever become really desperate. I am a logical thinking grown up you see (plus a staunch Atheist as you can probably tell). My digs are to be taken in jest, religion is still one of the things that can never be questioned unlike politics and everything else which have a far bigger meaning in my life. Believers can't stand people questioning the logic of believing in Christ. I can however understand people wanting to believe in some greater power as comfort. It just isnt for me.

I was brought up a Catholic..... didn't chose it and was forced to "believe " in it as a child.... It's probably too deep a subject for this type of forum , all religions contradict themselves too much . Like C'mon Y Spurs i have great difficulty believing this wonderful omnipresent all loving god can allow such attrocities to happen in this world and expect us to believe in him.....
I believe that "god" is a state of mind and is the easiest explaination for the Universe and evolution

The one thing that has always stuck in my mind is the group of ladies who would stand outside the church after mass talking about everyone. Really not christian carry on!

as kids we would watch the family troop off to the pub straight after 11 oclock mass. with you on that one mate I can still picture Sadie Keegan bitching away, and then going off to see the Pope when he was in Ireland. Thats the horrible two faced side of the cathlic faith. You went because you had to, no other reason!

Can anyone name one "Religion" that hasn't caused death on a large scale throughout history ? Buddhism? Winner! See also many of the various 'ancient' religions - Kemetic, Roman, Greek, Mayan, Wiccan, Pagan, Druidism etc. Most of those make more sense than the current ones too!
