...ok so I am dependent on my car to drive about 50 miles a day the combined trip of to and from work....and until recently its been fine but just recently some problems have arisen and I'd appreciate help because I'm a mechanical retard. I need my car and don't want it to die. Its a 1996 Nissan Almera 1.4 or 1.6Si I think.... 1. At 75-80mph a strong vibration comes through the steering wheel which reminds me of the feeling of driving with a deflating tyre. I'm told this is something to do with the 'balance.' 2. When the car is coasting, i.e. as you come up to a stop at a junction with the clutch down the revs go very low and oscillate from a couple of hundred to nearer a thousand....when it gets low, it feels like it'll stall the engine but it doesn't but I *think* it has an effect on the power steering and maybe even the brakes. Not sure though and this one may be me being paranoid! But again its not always like this. 3. The sodding thing wouldn't start today without a whole load of revs. 4. The rev counter only sometimes works...sometimes if you hit the plastic it starts working again and others it doesn't...and it just hurts my hand! and then it will randomly start working by itself again later. Loose connection is my thought. I think the car may be possessed by something...

take it in for a full service m8. Problem 1 is probably just tyre pressures or balancing

Have you considered taking the car to a mechanic garage? Rumous has it that these mechanics know how to fix cars...

maybe the auto steering is not connected propperly and the clutch cant react as quick as your rev need to be slower... i suggest you drive it propperly...

Part of the problem might be related to the mixture of fuel-air. Because (I fecking hope) its got an auto-choke it will probably mean a partial electronics failure. That would be an expensive repair.
Or, maybe I'm just making shit up to sound knowledgeable.

Perhaps when you approach lights or stopping, you go down your gears? Problem 3 sounds like your starter motor needs repairing/replacing. Mine does that from time to time, just give it revs to start and it'll be fine. As for your car being possessed, age and shitness might be closer the mark

Thanks people. Funily enough my car drove just fine today. Though there was no opportunity to test the first issue. Haven't got 1 POG! I'm not that silly, but I've only missed 1 home game this season. Think you're right COYS, though I want to hold out on that til its MOT'd in January...so if its nothing urgent then I'll do that. Yes mizen, I will do if I have to....but its best to know whats wrong with it so they don't rip you off, and if nothing needs desparately doing, I won't - it'd cost a lot and wouldn't be worth spending it. OOo that sounds very smart AS! Yus it has an auto-choke, but it never seems to lack what power it has under acceleration... Haha spozz...I do but you can't stop with it in gear... Ooo that sounds a bit expensive too. It was fine today, my dad said it may just have been 'damp.' Oi! Its possessed! How old is your Golf?

Would probably cost more than I'd be able to seel my car for though! Yes, I have tried hitting it mort. The RevoPower Wheel is a really cool new invention that makes your regular foot powered bicycle into a Gas Powered Bicycle while letting you travel cheaply, efficiently, and easily. The RevoPower Wheel is simply a 25cc two-stroke gas-powered engine and gears within the front wheel of a bicycle. Revo says it can be installed on any bicycle by any person with very basic mechanical skills. All you have to do is select your bike (most bicycles with 26" wheels will work), remove your old wheel, open your new wheel, and install your new wheel. Sounds pretty simple to me. Your just replacing it! Your new Gas Powered Bicycle can now travel for 200 miles per gallon at a top speed of 20 mph. To start the engine simply start peddling while the wheel can be used manually or motorized at any time. The RevoPower Wheel is expected to come out in the first quarter of 2007 retailing around $400, but you can reserve your wheel today at Revo. Via Gearlog.
