Maybe not a legend over here, and since it's the MLS most of you probably don't care anyway, but I thought it was worth a thread This weekend saw the final game of Jaime Moreno's career, playing for DC United against Toronto FC. He played for DC for 15 seasons in two spells, missing only the 2003 season after a disagreement with the coach led to him being shipped out (though he came right back the season after). He featured in 329 games for them and scored 131 goals, making him the highest goalscorer in MLS history (totalling 133 including the two from his '03 season). On top of that, he is also the only MLS player to score over 100 goals and set up over 100 more. It was fitting that he got a goal in his final game, even if Toronto didn't read the rest of the script (beating DC 3-2). The standing ovation he got when he was subbed in the 81st minute obviously touched him too. It wasn't the greatest season to end his career in, in terms of DC's results, but with 9 major honours to his name and five past appearance in the MLS team of the season, I'm sure he'll have plenty of happy memories to take away. Here's hoping he can continue with DC in another role somewhere along the line; goodness knows his loyalty's earned it!

Also worth noting that this weekend saw the retirement of Brian McBride, a name perhaps better known over here following his four seasons with Fulham (151 appearances, 41 goals). He also managed to score in his final game, in a 4-1 win for Chicago Fire (his hometown club) over Chivas USA. He earned 96 caps for the US national side and scoring 30 goals, playing in three world cups and scoring in two of them. Hope he has a happy retirement too

20 years old; still had many aspects of his game to develop and mostly started on the bench. Shame there's no record of his assists at the time, 'cause he must've been doing something to keep in the team Of course, if we're only counting goals, Defoe, Torres and Rooney must be pretty shit too...

A goal every 2.5 games on average, working out at about 18 goals per 46-game season - most managers would give their left testicle for a player who could do that for 15 seasons and not be tempted by bigger clubs
