I don't understand how the government/"The Green Movement" can expect us all to come to depend on public transport when it's so bloody useless! On the occasions that I'm forced to use it (I generally walk), I could live with the expense, inconvenience and lack of comfort if it actually got me from A to B - but that doesn't matter if the damned thing doesn't even turn up! (Yes, I had my travel plans blown out of the water today. How ever did you guess?) Where are transport management types to complain at when you need them? JULES!!!

When I lived in Leeds I got the bus practically every day-spent most of my wages on ridiculously extortionate bus fare.
Luckily I'm now only a 10 minute walk away from my job and the centre of town. However, the last time I came back to Leeds, I spent most of the 4 and half hour train journey stood up on an overcrowded train..and paid £60 for the pleasure!

Agreed! My car has now decided it is going to continue needing repairs until the day it gets crushed in the scrap heap and I am being left at the mercy of buses and trains. The trains from where I live into town STINK of piss and more often than not, are full of tramps or chavs who look like extras from This Is England. I refuse to get the buses in Leeds, simply because I'd have to sell my right arm in order to do so.
Buses in York are the same; cleaner but fucking extortionate.
Rant over...

I should probably note that Nottingham have got it right - as best I remember, a single on the bus or tram is £1.60, and beyond that it's £3.20 for an all-day all-bus, all-tram pass, and it's not even a subsidised service apparently. Make whoever got that set up Minister for Transport, 'cause that's genius in and of itself, and borderline miraculous next to the shite most of the country serves up
