I watched it but basically hated it. It doesn't match our constitution to do this. We vote for an MP, not a president. Too many people already seem to think that they elect one of these three not a local representative of a political doctrine. This was an opportunity for posturing and schmoozing to camera. It was all too simple, targeting too many simple people who were mainly waiting for their media of choice to interpret it for them, evaluate it on their behalf and probably confirm what they already thought they thought in the first place. Despite that, I'm still interested to know what people thought of it all!

You know the Conservative's posters and signs that they have up all around now, Vote For Change they all say, well driving to work I saw quite a lot of creative graffiti all different for each Tory sign I passed.
Some are better than others, I like these first two.

Clegg did the best job, and despite the polls immediately afterwards, I thought Cameron did the worst job. He said lots of pretty things, but didn't actually offer much by way of confirmed policy to support them, during the bits I watched (watched it on and off).
There wasn't really anything decisive for me in the debates though; nothing to really set everyone apart. Didn't help that Gorvid Camrown kept agreeing with Clegg, mind...

Melton and Rutland is guaranteed as Tory (Alan Duncan) If you want to take one for the team Morton, you could get AD out by embroiling him in some sort of scandal... He likes boys, perhaps you could revisit your Albanian asylum seeker persona and have freaky sex with him then sell your story to the tabloids?! |

It's all part of the process of England being Americanised   As previously expected, Clegg of the Lib Dem's fared the best in the first of these live telly debates. His party has very little history, whereas both the others are littered with it, that swung in his favour in this, I thought. One major aspect which aided Clegg, I felt, was that Cameron and Brown seemed intent on squabbling and sniping, whereas Clegg used the platform on live national tv for the first time to let the British public know his agenda - he took it well. When the other leaders spoke, he looked them in the face, neither of the others did that. I couldn't help but think Brown agreed with Clegg on a few points and attempted to let us know that that was his idea all along though. Cameron came into it with high expectations, but ultimately he choked. Where I live, it's a Lib Dem stronghold, has been for a fair while, I don't think that will change this time round. |

Tried creating any of your own Pastie? ;D Here's my effort  I was stewarding at Spring Harvest last week and so I missed the debate so can't offer any opinion on it. I'm intrigued to see what happens with the Bromsgrove constituency, however. It would normally be considered a guaranteed Tory victory but the MP here is currently Julie Kirkbride, who is standing down after being caught up in the expenses scandal. Tories have brought in someone with no real links to the area and it may be a gamble to put someone of Asian descent into an area that is predominantly white middle-class. That said, however, the rest of my family came back from a hustings session in Alvechurch (my girlfriend was visiting and a Bromsgrove hustings apparently isn't top of the list of things to do after travelling up from Yeovil  ) feeling most impressed with him, so he may win voters over. |

sorely tempted to make my own but work seems to be taking my time, especially as i'm sorting out work for teachers stranded in other countries! Interested that someone voted Cameron. May be my personal bias but i was surprised by how weak he was.
