Newcastle United secure promotion to Premier League Hughton's team are unbeaten at home in the league this season Newcastle boss Chris Hughton hailed his side's "wonderful achievement" after they secured Premier League promotion. The Magpies were guaranteed a top-two finish after Nottingham Forest drew 0-0 with Cardiff. "From day one the focus has been to put everything into this," said Hughton, whose side celebrated their top flight return by beating Sheffield United 2-1. "These group of lads have had a real desire to get back into a division that everyone here thinks we should be in."

Yes, well done to them, a fine and consistent effort.
A few of us doubted their ability to bounce back (Me, Mrs H and Neko spring to mind) but they got on with the job, all credit to them. That doesn't excuse the cold I got from sitting in the pissing cold rain at SJP last Monday though!

True, Ipswich are only just safe and I've hardly noticed Boro at all this season (who I predicted for the top 2 slots lol! ) (I didn't have any money on it though)

Credit where due, they proved me wrong. They won't even make the top 4 next season though

Hey Neko, I see your boys are banging them in at the minute Yup - I fear it's too little too late, though We could win every game between now and the end 6-0, and Stevenage would still be champions even with room for one defeat on the way. Still, reasonable form to be taking into the play-offs, I suppose Can't complain too much!

Didn't they do well *strokey big Brucey chin* I'll admit I thought they would sell off everyone and drop like a stone but they have been far and away the best and most consistent team this season and deserve to go back up. I think it's been good for them to drop down. They look like they have bonded more as a team and that should stand them in good stead for going back up.

All we can hope now is that next Monday, having secured promotion, they really can't be arsed. Of course, I fully expect to be relegated by then and THEN to beat them.
