The Premier League has written to Wolves to "request their observations" about Mick McCarthy's team selection for the game at Manchester United.
Ok some teams might put out a weakened team near the end of the season if they have a big cup final coming up but for a team langushing in the bottom 3 who need all the points they can get to do what Wolves did was a disgrace.
Showed no respect to Man Utd, no respect to themselves and no respect to their fans, there are no excuses so dont come up with all the bollox about a crucial game with Burnley coming up, its only mid Dec!
Wenger was right, it puts the integrity of the league in question, but what do you expect form a small club fighting above its weight in a division it dosent deserve to be in. Relegation the sooner the better.....
Cmon Burnley!! ;D

I agree with GT. There are some games you're more likely to get points out of than others. I did the exact same trick against Man Utd et al on Football Manager, which shows Mick isn't the only one to think of it.

the season we went down against man utd we went to old trafford with a full strength team got the tactics right (a rarity under Warnock) and prompt got bugger by a referee who refused to give us anything, including one of the most nailed on pens you'll ever see, so whats the point?! you pretty much start the match 14 vs 11 anyway....

Hopefully they will just tell them to mind their own bloody business, how their manager selects the team is their concern and not the premier league, surely those egostical wankers have more important things to do, Wenger talking about integrity? thats a laugh seeing as 1. He's French and 2. The EPL lost its integrity a loooooooooong time ago

The rules state McCarthy must put out his strongest side, and perhaps that's what he did? If his players were knackered from the Saturday (which obviously they shouldn't be, being professional footballers 'n' all), then perhaps ten fresh players will be stronger than ten tired players?
Either way, I don't think such a big deal should be made of it.

Cmon Burnley!! ;D Is that all you got? ;D I find it very funny that the Premier League have asked us for a written explanation, while the the bigger clubs (which incidentally does not include spurs) consistently get away with all sorts. I do feel for the 3,000 fans who made the journey to Old trafford, however we have to priorities our games. We played our full strength team against the pri-Madonnas known as Tottenham Hotspur and came away with three points. If we beat Burnley on Sunday it will be 9 points out of a possible 12 over the last four games. In Mick we trust!

If I were Mick I'd just ask them what action they'll take against the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea who, time after time, field weakened teams in the Premier League before a big Champions League match and thus disrespecting the league. What about Manchester United who fielded a weakened side vs West Ham United a couple of years back on the last day of the season when there were multiple teams able to get relegated?
Wenger is just pissed off and shouting his mouth off because his team did not Burnley, if they did he would not be sticking in his nose in our affairs. Although I do not agree with the decision Mick has a right to play what players he pleases and is more than entitled to prioritise his games just like the Sky Four do season after season.

Relegation the sooner the better..... Cmon Burnley!! ;D And how much respect do Manchester United and others show to the smaller premier league clubs when they consistently, time after time, field weakened teams against them before champions league matches? They don't just do it at the end of the season, they do it throughout the season. McCarthy did what he felt was right for the club he manages. They were far more likely to get points from the home match against Burnley and he obviously wanted to ensure he had everyone available for selection for that match. As far as Wolves were concerned that match against Burnley was as important as any big cup match. You can't have it both ways. On the one hand you're implying it's okay for a club to field a weakened side at the end of the season before a big cup game. And yet on the other hand you say it's a disgrace for Wolves to do the same thing before what amounts to a very impoortant game for them. The real disgrace is the double standards of the premier league. I note Wolves have a £25,000 (suspended) fine for doing this. When did Manchester United or any of the other big clubs ever get any kind of action against them at all for fielding weakened sides? Never.
