The fight is on Haye vs Valuev. November 7th. Nuremberg. Just look at the difference in size! Great to see a boxer not ducking the big fights, Haye needs to win really if the Heavyweight division is to be kept alive...but it won't be easy!!

Predictably, they've called it "David vs. Goliath." I loved Haye's reaction to seeing Valuev face to face - something to the effect of "He's a monster - nothing human could be that ugly!" Should be an interesting fight - totally contrasting sizes, styles and gameplans required. Will Haye go for an early KO or a high-energy points win, I wonder?

Circling the ring for most of the fight, coming up close now and again to land a few short combo's before getting away again. Make no mistake though, this is a huge step up for Haye (no pun intended!).

Truthfully, I don't know that Haye would have the patience to implement that sort of gameplan. He's aggressive by nature and will want to get in and have a go. Maybe an early flurry, looking for the KO and building a points lead, followed by your approach if it doesn't work by Rd 4 would be the best bet? I can't see Valuev winning by KO, at least; he should be far too slow for Haye, who's used to much quicker opponents. That said, if Haye lets his concentration drift or gets frustrated...

"Beat" I think he'll look to tire Valuev out as time goes on and hit him when he's vulnerable. Much like David did when faced against Goliath, incidentally! Haye won’t want to stay in range of the massive shots from Valuev and let himself get tired out. Valuev doesn’t hit that hard, but he probably can punch hard enough to take Haye out if he can hit him enough times. Like you mention, concentration on Haye's part will be vital, and he isn't known for having a lot of patience, but he'll need it if he wants to knock this guy out (resists pun about Vitali etc) I still can't get over just how insanely gigantic Valuev's head is

Wasn't the best fight by any means - but Haye is now the heavyweight champion of the world! One of the Klitschko's or Ruiz for him next I reckon. Pacquiao vs Cotto next week ;D
